Mt. Rushmore of Lafayette LB's

OK...this one is tough after the first two...

Romans
Bennett

Then who? I'd give Tim Monceman a nod...won a championship went on to become a great HS football coach at Liberty. Who else you got Leopard faithful?

Blake Constanzo and Dan Bengle come to mind immediately

In truth those were the two that rounded out my mountain but I wanted to let other's play as well. I still liike Monce as the sentimental favorie. Given a Mt. Rushmore of Romans, Bennett, Costanzo and Bengle is there anymore room for discussion or should we just put this one to bed and move on?

I cant think of any others, but we probably has some strong Lb's in the 70's and 80's.

This is an impressive list, but Joe Skladany, Class of '82, I believe, definitely sends one of these four packing.

I'm going with

Romans
Bennett
Skladany
Bengele

Upon further review you are right that Skladany has to make the list...but how do you send the only Lafayette player in the NFL to the curb?

Carney, you beat me to it.  Skladany was also from my era.  He was a beast.

I'll throw in Rawle Howard.  Argueably one of the most athletic on the list

Rawle was good but I don't know if he's Rushmore material.
The Maroon

Romans
Costanzo
Bennett
Skladany

I know  he's a sentimental favorite, a heck of a leader and on his way to being one of the best coaches in PA history...but I don't think Moncman was all league.

I don't know if this seals the deal, but the four named above all made All-American.  Blake did not.

Much more debate about this than I originally anticipated. I just can't bring myself to throw the only NFL player off of the mountain. Even though he was a late bllomer and enjoyed most of his success well after his Lafayette days. With that in mind...Im going with this version. Feel free to erect your own Mt. Rushmore if you strongly disagree...

Romans
Costanzo
Bennett
Skladany

On to the next!
