Mt. Rushmore of Lafayette RB's...OK...this one is interesting. Seems like a no brainer but I think there will be much debate. Here's mine...
Erik Marsh
Tommy Costello
Joe McCourt
Jonathan Hurt (really helped resurrect the program. has one of the truely great, if not the greatest, moment in Lafayette vs. Lehigh)
I know there are some that are left off of this list well worth consideration...so have at it!

Pard94: You have to remember that Lafayette had a football team before 1994. you have to include players like Giglio and Priest. I think you may have to make the mountain bigger for this discussion.

I got
Marsh
Costello
McCourt
Tony Giglio-- Tony was all american and the first Lafayette player to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season.

Hurt was a very good player and he gets extra points for the Lehigh catch, however I think Leonard Moore was at least as good as Hurt. Leonard didnt play on winning teams but that guy was a truely gifted player.

Yes...I know...Lafayette has a rich tradition and one loaded with awesome running backs. Hurt gets a sentimental nod and McCourt holds a lot of records for the school. I considered Priest and, shamefully, completely forgot about Giglio. Great foddder for discussion. I strongly doubt my list will be the "official" results for this round (for what that is worth).

These are coming a little too fast and furiously. No time to digest.
With RBs, one starts with Erik Marsh and you just sort of fill in around him. My list:
Marsh
McCourt
Priest
Don Nikles (Going out on a limb here because I never saw him play. The old timers [older than me, even] say he was a real load. Got a look see from the Steelers after graduating. Class of 1960, so he fits the "modern era" definition.)
I was tempted to pull one or two of the real old timers such as George McCaa (pre 1910) out of the clouds because, "modern era" be damned, Mt. Rushmore is for the ages. McCaa was a two time Walter Camp All american in a time when there was only one All American team to cover all of college football. (I ask you, for instance, when you get to ends how you can, in good conscience, keep Charlie Berry off that mountain.)
Considered two others, but rejected each: Tom Costello was truly special, but only had half a career. Tony Giglio was also remarkable, but spent his first two years as a DB, and was injured late in each of his RB years, never having, if memory serves me correctly, even one carry against Lehigh.

Marsh - like Bauer, stands alone over last 35+ yrs
Costello - even with the shortened career
Craig (American Gladiator) Williams - we never let him run enough
Priest - too bad about the injuries could have been more
Others on my waiting list:
Nick Kowigos (sp)
Roger Shepko
Tom Williams - unfortunate xfer to PSU in the dark years
McCourt
Hurt

Seenalot needs to seenapsychologistCome on now seenalot. I understand you want to throw a few wrenches into your arsenal of Running backs. But are you serious to not only have McCourt and Hurt on your waiting list, but to have them 4th and 5th down on your list!!!!!!!!!!!
McCourt holds the record for:
Touchdowns
All Purpose yardage
Most receptions for a back
Most receiving yards for a back
most TD's in a game
Rookie of the year
Offensive Player of the Year
2 or 3 time All American
2nd in Rushing yards
Backbone for the resurgence of Lafayette football from the dark years to the Great years
Hurt in 2 years was the offensive staplepoint for 2 championship teams, offensive player of the year... oh and by the way, made the greatest play in lafayette history
You are a clown to throw a list like that.
Here is the the 4
1. Marsh
1a. McCourt
3. Costello- would be 1b but injury
4. Hurt
Marsh and McCourt are tied. Their numbers are so similar its eerie. Both avg 4.7 yds per rush. I'll give Marsh the nod in running style just because he made things look easier and was faster. Mccourt was a 3 yd and a cloud of dust(but something we all loved). However im gonna put em both at 1 just because McCourt accomplished so much, and the records dont lie. If McCourt doesn't win the title, Marsh sits alone. But I can't put one over the other. Put your biases aside early-mid 90s faithful. They both belong at the top

Was no implied rank order - just a list. I'll give you McCourt replaces Williams, but in this clowns eyes Ryan Priest's career still trumps Hurt.
