Navy

This game will be on TV at 3:00 PM, which means I will be switching away form the FCS Championship game.  On parchment, the Pards should have no trouble with this one.  I hope they get some attendance this afternoon.  They deserve it.  I wish I could make it to KSC, but I have to stick around today due to some interesting client "issues."

Tough to lose those home league games.   Fiacco only played 23 minutes.  What's with that?

I guess that's why they don't play the games "on parchment."  Crying or Very sad

According to the various computer rankings, such as Sagarin, Navy is the top team in the PL.   They were definitely a favorite over LC - even on the road.

Don't need no stinkin' Sagarin.  This was not a game I expected to lose.  I didn't see it, but have been told that we stunk the joint up in the second half.
Lafalum

I did see the game. At one pointing the first half we were up 16 points. Danielle did not play well and she looked like she was running in cement. We should have won this game!

I think most neutral parties expected a Navy win.

Latest RPI for Patriot League women:

Holy Cross 142
Lehigh 173
American 179
Navy 207
LAFAYETTE 224
Army 287
Colgate 310
Bucknell 336

Throw in home court, the fact that this RPI was calculated after the Navy win, and how well the Lafayette women had been playing, and I still consider this a very disappointing loss.  They are not moving up and into contention unless/until they start winning games like this.

I'm with you, c2.  Wanted to cite our youth, however, I see that Navy had 4 players play over 30 mins - all sophs.

Agreed
The Maroon

I am easily the worlds worst fan right now but a couple of things:

One more time: a 6'7 girl who can fly up and down the court is not going to be playing ball in Kirby anymore than a 7'4 guy who runs the floor well is. She changes the game when she's in there and I'm actually impressed at how well she does move.

Looks like Freeland had a tough afternoon. Up until that game she was going 2 for 6 from the field per game...1 for 14 on Saturday. A lot of shots for a PG - and a lot of misses.

That's your youth problem. I'd argue that PG is the worst position to start a frosh. As good as Tony Johnson is - Fran didn't have to rely on him his first year.

We're getting there - Nolan's second class looks just as good as this one.

I think you know that RPI is largely irrelevant at this point.   Even at year-end it doesn't tell you much.   In the RPI-scheme of things a 75-point loss to a mediocre team with a really good record is better than a 75-point win over a BCS-conference team with a so-so record.  Etc Etc.

Sagarin gives a MUCH MUCH better ranking than does the RPI.  Current Sagarin predictor rankings:

Navy 67.5
LU 66.7
AU 66.1
HC 65.9
Army 63.3
LC 61.1
CU 57.1
BU 54.7

(Note:  Home court is worth just over 4 points per game.)

Navy was the favorite - albeit not a big one - in that game by any reasonable metric that can be used.
Lafalum

Sagarin or RPI when you give away a 16 pt lead, it's game that should have been won.  That being said this is a good young team that will begin show in the record soon.
