NCAA Tournament

Lehigh, as you know, is the Patriot AQ.  Bucknell did not get an at-large despite its qualifying RPI.  The Bison got Woffed, for sure.

Maryland destroyed the Bile-Colored Ninnies yesterday, 16-7, in the first round.

Loyola vs. Duke is starting right now (Sunday 5:15 PM) on ESPNU.

FYI - Yale beat Penn State yesterday.  Shocker.  Hopkins is not even in the tournament.  Even bigger shocker (though they didn't actually deserve to be in it.

EDIT - sorry - its was UNC that beat Lehigh, not Maryland.  Maryland lost to Cornell 16-8.

Loylala and Duke tied at 11 in OT.

Case Matheis scores on a steal; Duke wins it in 2OT, 12-11

Shocker - Bryant is leading Syracuse 4-2.

Patriot league expands lacrosse conference tournament to 6 teams: http://www.patriotleague.org/genrel/052913aaa.html

Any chance the Pards could make the tourney next year with this change?

No.

Agree its not likely.

Right now I'd venture a bet that:

Loyola, LU, BU, Army, CU are favorites to be in, Navy and HC on the bubble and us and BoU bring up the rear.

Could we slide into the 6th slot, maybe, but dont bet your lunch money.

Not sure we are gaining any ground based on the recruits I have seen on laxpower or elsewhere.   Mostly middies, and while thats a need (including a FOGO) we need some size, speed, strength at long poles and I dont see any of those coming in.

Perhaps a better question.  Will we be better than Boston U?

Sorry - edited now.  Meant Boston U not NU.

Erik Cannon, a long pole from Don Bosco, is having quite a year and will be a good addition.  Cormac McCooe from Ridgewood is listed as 6-4, 200 lbs which could give us some size if he commits to the weight room.  Declan McGuire from Benet Academy in Illinois is also a big kid with good athleticism.  I don't see Ahsler or Evans being challenged for their starting positions but that third long pole is completely up for grabs.

EDIT:  Erik Cannon was named a 2013 US Lacrosse All-American.
