Unfortunately the situation remains about the same notwithstanding another shuffling of the line up----poor shooting, too many turnovers and an absence of floor leadership. TMost disappointing has been the fact that there has been little if any improvement in the level of Fiacco's play she her freshman year--her poor footwork, post positioning and low poss passing stand out in particular. Homan and Fiacco on the floor together eliminate the possibility of a more up tempo game, with either or both out of the game, you better make your outside shots since we're playing small. We are essentiually caught in the middle of two equally bad options. I do believe the better option is up-tempo run by O'Hare, turnover risk notwithstanding, given ther up-side vs. the extremely disappointing levle of Fiacco's play which appears to have also rubbed off on Homan. The need for upperclass in-game leadership is self evident. This can be turned around this season as a win or two will boost confidence which is currently lacking.

Good post.
Lafalum

The team finished strong against Bucknell. They seem to go into slumps. At one point the team was 15 points down in the second half but battled back and had a silly turnover with seconds left. They are not that far away in my opinion. This team has heart.....they need some wins. Admittedly Bucknell should have been a W.

Lots of troubling trends. 2-16 in league games going back to last year. We haven't broken 50 yet in three league games. We aren't getting to the foul line nearly enough for an inside team. We're relying way to much on a frosh PG who has tremendous upside but I would prefer she be brought along with about 10 minutes less/game (I'm assuming she's in there so much because she's an outside threat and our 3-point game has improved). As has been pointed out - WAY to many TO's (see above about the dangers of playing a frosh PG). A lack of identity - as was also pointed out.
Plenty of league games left - but our goal of being a top-four team is definitely in jeopardy.
It's year 3 folks. If we can't get five or six league wins there's not much reaason to think we can be serious contenders in year four.

It is despressing.  I understand Nolan had a tremendous rebuilding job on her hands, but she is a good coach and we have scholarships just liek everyone else.

Does anyone remmeber the last time the Lafayette women's basketball team had a winning record?  It has to be 15 plus years.

Franks, to answer your question, the last winning record was the 1997-98 team which posted a 15-13 overall record and went 7-5 in league play. Prior to that the 1993-94 team posted a 18-9, 9-5 record. So, its been one winning record in 18+ seasons. Interestingly, between the 84-85 season and the 93-94 season, all under Pat Fisher,  we averaged 19 wins per season. So what happened in the mid 90s that caused a downfall in the program for almost 20 years?

Mr Maroon, just to set the record straight, Nolan has had only two recruiting classes, the current sophomores and freshman. The junior class was recruited by Smith prior to her departure.

Understood. Still I am very much hoping we see some signs of life during this league season. In year 3, both coach T and coach O had their respective programs showing signs of life and creating optimism for the future.

I'm not hoping for a title. I'm hoping for five or 6 league wins. Should I bag thes ambitious dreams of mine until coach Nolan has four full classes?
