With Danielle back we should be pretty formidable underneath the basket next year.

My faulty radar tells me that we need a female Tony Johnson and a whole passel of shooters.  Hopefully, the former is in this group and we have a starter kit for the latter.

5' 4" with underimpressive scoring stats going to play D1 ball? This must be your point guard C2. I sure hope Coach N knows her stuff.

Google the high school she plays for. It looks like she scores as much as she needs to...

Although it looks as though she's not even the best PG on that team...

Let's give coach Nolan the benefit of this one!!

The recruits have been posted on the website: http://www.goleopards.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/022511aaa.html

Here's what is said about Brya:
Quote:
A 5-4 guard from Pasadena, Md., Brya Freeland is ranked among the top 100 point guards in the nation by ESPN. She led the Archbishop Spalding High School to a No. 4 ranking in the state as a junior, averaging 7.0 points, 3.0 steals and 4.0 assists per outing for the Cavaliers. Freeland, a two-year captain, also earned all-tournament team laurels at the Holy Cross Holiday Christmas Tournament and the Title IX Invitational. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. Also a National Merit Scholar candidate, Freeland is a peer mentor and president of Archbishop Spalding's Black Awareness Club.

I am in favor of giving Coach Nolan the benefit of the doubt.  She's been coaching and recruiting for a long time.  Point Guard is about speed and presence of mind and awareness.  The inside shooting and defensive skills must be left to others.

I think you'll love this kid. Another Heidi Caruso. Remember, "Heidi steals the show"?

Nolan's comments for Macklin and Lianza mention that they are shooters.  I find that encouraging.

Recruit Emily Homan a 6'3" Forward was named First Team All-State today. Her school, Delaware County Christian is a class A school. Emily averaged 18 points per game.
