George Rubin '58, Bob Beane '64 and Doug Marvin '69 will leave the Bot. We are losing at least two who were consistant supporters of the athletic program. We are adding Mary Stengal Austen '86, Donald E Morel '79, and S. Kent Rockwell '66. Is there anyone who knows these people outside of googling them????

I do not and did not know Kent Rockwell, but our years at Lafayette overlapped. He and his brother - fraternal twins, if my memory serves me well, and both attended Lafayette - were scions of the Rockwell industrial empire. I do not recall him being involved in athletics, but I could be wrong. I'm sure that Mr. Rockwell has matured, but Let's just say that I am convinced that we are looking at yet another "checkbook" appointment to the BOT.

Austen is president of a philadelphia PR firm and Morel is president and CEO of West Pharmaceuticals (according to Business Week annual salary 1.8 mio) He gives at the highest level but not yet in the 1 mio dollar Societe d'honneur. Yes checkbooks were important. No clue on whether they are athletic friends or foes.

If he is who I am thinking of Morel was Fiji and a baseball player - who knows what that means today in terms of being athletic friendly, but if correct its probably better than AXP and an artist.
BTW - did anyone hear or read the commencement speech? Nice to hear someone else say that speaking "politically correct" is a crock of bull that will ultimately get you no where. Wonder if the administration listened or slept....

Hopefully your recollection of Morel is correct. Athletics and Fiji can use some more friends on the BOT.
