I was in school when Lafayette won its first game at the Palestra - vs. LaSalle, I think.
I was surprised to see us lose by 14 to Penn, even down there. I saw the Quackers at Kirby last year. I thought they were the worst team I saw all year.

I guess you didn't see the NJIT game.

I expected a better game versus Penn. I was shocked that Princeton beat Lehigh relatively easily last night. This is definitely a down year for the league.

We were down by 25 early in the second half and cut it to 12 or so before losing by that margin. For some reason our MO is we come out weak in each half, get behind, and struggle back. We can't continue that, especially on the road.

I'm starting to grow disappointed in the sophomore class. Mintz is solid but not spectacular---the rest of the class isn't showing much. I know they hardly played as freshman so I hope it's just a learning curve.
There are a couple of players on the team that don't fit Fran's mold at all.
Tammy's first recruiting class landed two players who are going to make a lot of noise before they are through and Alex is gonna be goodin'---I've heard it from enough people to believe it. You need to land 1 or 2 star-potential players every year and Tammy seems to be doing that. Fran has 1 so far and none on the way.
But back to the men. We're shooting 34% from 3 now and we shot 39% last year. Think that step back makes a difference?
And we're shooting a ridiculous amount of 3's. Shouldn't the fact that we like to shot 3's open up the inside..at least a little?
The Quakers killed us on the boards. You can't control getting outmuscled by UCONN....But I think we should do better against Penn...
It's one game, I've seen flashes of strong potential and a young team should get better--especially come February.
Besides...We're cursed at the Palestra!

The curse of the Palestra is far more vile and evil than the curse of the Ivys and CU.

Those 4 seniors and AB got the bulk of the playing time last year. I think that's why we fizzled down the stretch. You see spurts of good play at times from everyone. Hopefully we can chalk it up to the lack of time last year and the Sophs and Frosh start to gell and stop playing like inexperience Sophs and Frosh.

ColgateColgate should be a good test for our progress. They don't have any dominant scorers. From what Fran said the other day, they are trying to focus on taking care of business at home.
