The Met's CEO is out. Dan Weiss, president, could succeed him.

The current CEO makes $1.2 million. Will Dan get bumped up?

A Trumpian query (i.e. one with no evidence) - Et tu Brutae ?
bethlehempard

Hah. My first thought when the initial story appeared, hinting at a change and noting how steady a man Dan is deemed to be. College or institution, it's still academic politics.
I hope he gets the job. The Met has to figure out how to use the Breuer among other things.

I think it's Brute (broo-tay)   ablative singular

9th grade Latin   takes me back to about 44 B.C.

It is Brute, but I am pretty sure its the vocative, not the ablative.

I remember conjugations (verbs)    present, past, future,   present perfect, pluperfect, future perfect    I play  I played  I will play  I have played I had played  I shall have played     active and passive

Declensions (nouns)    The woman (nominative)  of the woman (genitive) to or for the woman (dative)  the woman (direct object--accusative)  by or with the woman (ablative)      each of which had singular and plural forms as well as M, F, and N  suffixes.

Although the literal translation is "And you, Brutus?"  I think the phrase really is saying  "And they did this ((along) with) you Brutus?"  Often, the ablative is used when a preposition is implied like that.  I don't recall "vocative"  Might be a tomato, tomahto distinction     fun

Almost forgot  "Gallia in tres partes divisa est"  Now I'm outta ammo.

Paul McLoughlin has left Lafayette to be Vice President and dean of the college at Colgate.

What is the significance of this? What did he do? Was he part of the athletic department?
bethlehempard

I concede this is a digression (as in Catcher in the Rye). It's still a notable move and the board section is "Everything Else."
Plus there is no credit-rating news.

May not be as much of a digression as you think. Dean McLoughlin may not have been a member of the athletic staff, but he was a friend to coaches bringing applications to the admissions department. He had been known to stand on the table for a few top recruits.

Agreed 10. A friend fighting in Admissions for recruits cannot be underestimated. A hostile Admissions Dept can kill a program. Just look at Cross before Pine was hired as AD.

I don't think there ever was any evidence that the HC Admissions Dept was hostile to athletes.   But it was a convenient excuse for certain posters.   There bigger problems in a number of sports were weak coaches, poor facilities, historic losing records, and not much athletic aid.   Since he arrived, the quality of the coaches has improved, a huge investment has been made in new facilities, and they have added a number of scholarships.

Former FOH assistant Matt Loefler (sp?) new HC at Johns Hopkins. I think he's the guy who went to Loyola when they joined the PL.I also think he came to FOH as former Swarthmore HC.

Josh Loeffler was an assistant at Loyola for the past four years after leaving Lafayette to briefly join Mike Rice's staff at Rutgers (very bad timing, if you recall that situation). He has Division III ties as a Swarthmore alum and former head coach at Stevens Tech.

Sorry for faulty recollection re: Loefler. As an aside Ryan Nase named new head football coach at Cheltenham High School .See this morning's "Rally" section of Philadelphia Inquirer.
SixtyEighter

A follow-up on Nase was published in Sunday's Inquirer. A columnist wrote a biographical column on Nase which reflects well on him and prominently mentions Lafayette and Nase's tuteledge under FT.It is in the "Rally" section of the sports  section.
