Things have gotten real bad real fast.  Very surprised at Navy's position.

Well we surprised everyone when we were kicked to the curb.  We played Bucknell really tight last year.

preseason poll

Even a blind squril finds a nut. School and coach do very little to promote program. You see nothing anywhere about it . There needs to be some effort made to market the program.  Players will go to the better known programs. This free fall should be no surprize
Pard4Life

How do you suggest we market? Reaching out to more HS coaches?

I believe it though; just look at admissions.  We increase our HS visits by 25% and we hit an all-time high in applicants.  We all know it's marketing.

There remain a finite number of DI lacrosse schools, and very few of them fully fund with scholarships.  All good lacrosse players in high school know who they are.  Lafayette is considered a perennial also-ran.

Lacrosse players don't have delusions of grandeur as do many football players.  They know they're no going pro and that they won't be on ESPN highlight reels.  They just want to play - especially at a school where lacrosse is supported by the students.  That often means choosing a DIII powerhouse over a DI school.  This is a decision that is made every day.

Kids chooses Stevens, Tufts, Middlebury, Amherst, Gettysburg, RPI, etc. over PL schools all the time.  In fact, many of the top DIII schools could beat the Pards.

It's not so much a matter of marketing as it is winning.  Kids definitely will come if you win.  Huge lax camps like the ones held a Rutgers and West Point every summer wouldn't hurt, either.

scholarships will definately work.  Winning = good press = marketing
Camps= marketing, how about updating the web site once in a while?  does anyone know who will  keys for this year?  No news on the current team!  Bios are not up to date!  Quick facts page looks like someone made an attempt to update and stopped mid -stream.  They made some updates, but not others - no captain listed  - the list goes on.   Makes you wonder.  There must be things going on that a person could write about.  Use the technology available.  Just seems like there isn't much effort being made????

Good work Assassin.  This lack of support for Lax is yet another example of the inadequate sports team marketing that passes for PR in the athletic dept.

This isn't actual improvement but more righting of the ship if the team can win the games it should and stay competitive in most of the others.  That would produce a 4-9 or even a 5-8 record which would be above their historical average.   Records since 2005:

2005:  2-11
2006:  2-10
2007:  1-12
2008:  4-9
2009:  6-7
2010:  8-6
2011:  2-11

Coach Mangan sounds positive about some of the freshmen attackmen and they are returning an all senior starting middie line.  The assistant coaches now have a year under their belts coaching at the DI level so that should settle things somewhat.  But its a pretty young squad that will need to develop quickly.  Should be an interesting season to see how things unfold.

The first three ought to be winnable.  We'll know where we stand after Rutgers on March 3.

We get Army and Georgetown at home, back to back.  I hope these two are at Fisher.  There's no reason Georgetown should not draw a couple thousand people if folks in Northern/Western NJ know that this game is being played in Easton.
PardsLax

Yes, we should gets wins vs. Providence, Bing, and Wagner.  Rutgers could be a team on the rise so I agree, that should be a good assessment.  Then a win against Marist should be possible as is a W vs. HC.

The games scheduled at Fisher are Army, Georgetown, and Lehigh at this point.  It's probably too much to hope for that any more than three games a year get played there.

College Lacrosse has been front-page sports news in the Baltimore Sun for many years.
