Ray of Hope

Xbo noted that coach Grentz had intimated that the team had turned the corner. While it's easy to get discouraged at two losses to weaker league teams - it's worth noting that both were more than competitive (you have to compete before you can win)  and the emergence of Agnello as a 3-point threat may point to brighter days. A second legit shooter can open up the paint. From what I've seen our ball movement isn't that bad.

Our ceiling is low - but both 'Gate and Loyola are winnable games on the second go-round.

Like everyone else - the disappearance of Lutz has me perplexed.

Re: Ray of Hope

Up four with 2:50 to go, and aside from a missed free throw, the next time we even ATTEMPTED a shot was in a tie game with 45 seconds left. That was frustrating. But this season is about being competitive and learning, and last night's Leopards were definitely competitive and hopefully learned something.

Watching the team for the first time this year, I was struck by the overall slowness of our players and their poor decision making. I now understand why the number of turnovers this year is so high. We have not one skilled player who can dribble, pass, or penetrate and make the opponent pay for overplaying our passing lanes. This long WBB dry spell will not end until we have someone who can handle the ball and I saw no one that can do that on the floor last evening.

Yup - without a PG there's not much we can do. Right now it's about seeing if we can get some other pieces of the puzzle in place. Recruiting will need to fill the void at the 1 spot.

Where is Beth Mowins when you need her?
