I didn't know the kid had this good of a year. I was pretty surprised to see him on the Sports Network site. I guess his season was a little over shadowed by that Holy Cross game. Good to see he got some recognition and great to see someone from Lafayette as an All American. Thats 2 years in a row for us now. Anyone know who the last Pard to recieve Pre-season All American going into his Junior season was?

Someone pointed out on the Lehigh site that the Sports Network team is basically the opinion of one man, Dave Coulson. Still, Rodriguez obviously did enough to get someone's attention, and Coulson is not without expertise.
Actually, the Rodriguez selection surprised the bejeezus out of me. He's fairly accurate, but has not yet shown consistent ability to bring it home from long distance. As a junior to be, you have to ask if he's built enough of a resume for this kind of recognition.
On the other hand, the Sports network team goes 3 deep and does not mention Mark Leggiero or Lehigh's Matt Cohen at LB. If this is the make-up call for that "oversight," I'll take it.

Carney I'd have to say I agree with you. Although the kid does seem pretty accurate he hasnt shown much from distance. On the other hand he did hit his longest attempt last year, which was 47 at Colgate and had a 46 at Columbia. He was 4-5 from beyond 40 yards, but the true test will be if he can come through in the clutch if we need a 50+. The kid has good stats and who knows if he does or doesn't deserve this accolade but 13-15 on field goals is definately a big help to any football team. I also agree with you on the fact that Leggiero hands down should have been somewhere on that all american list. He and Cohen both deserved it!
