Updated roster. Losses - Sparks (!), DePaolo.  Mercado apparently not coming back for redshirt.

I am amazed more haven't left a foundering 1-10 team.

So you're among those who doubt the effect of Keller's tragic death and all the injuries?

Normal people are usually optimistic. For some reason, as people get older, they become more negative. Having a negative attitude will never reward you, it just makes you more of a loser. But having a positive attitude, even when things look bleak, makes you feel better and more people associate with you.

Winners never quit and losers never win.

Heck, my HS team went 1-8 my jr year and we were undefeated as a sr; the top team in Bergen County. Mostly based on maturation and confidence.  Quit? Forgetaboutit.  LC will bounce back if the kids hang together.

One of our sr QBs has to step up. (Not getting suspended to start the year would be nice). I believe the OL will be vastly improved, maybe the best starting five in the Tavani era.  CJ is among the most dynamic players in the league - get him the damn ball! Which BTW they started to do late last year. DeSean's ceiling is also extremely high and he's got 2 big years ahead of him. Having healthy Mrazek and Vangelas all year and Joey with a year under his belt should be an exciting receiver group. Hopefully we've recruited some more speed as well? Wads is a stud receiver at TE who came to the fore last season. With good QB play, I'm really optimistic about the O.

Can Parham, Draeland, Powe, Butler and maybe Clay Rush be an effective secondary - why not? Lot's of talent.  The coaches need to groom the talent that Bosch, Ramsey and Dante bring to the DE position. Albershardt has to lead that group.  Hopefully Hinchen and Root, whom we've always had high expectations for, can prove to be physical, capable players lucky to be paired up with BB. Heck, I'm ready for spring ball.

Predicting a balmy 46 degree high in St. Aug on Saturday....46!.  Bill goes from gin and tonic to hot toddies.   Razz

Sorry to hear we are losing a few quality young kids.  I suppose it's none of my business, by I am always curious as to why and if they are playing somewhere else or staying in school.  I suppose we will find out soon enough.

Mercado really struggled to stay healthy last year, and I suppose the injuries were too much.

DePalo is a tough kid, but was also hurt. I also think he was perhaps a partial scholly kid, so hopefully he finds a better situation for himself if he is looking to play elsewhere.

Sparks is surprising, but I suppose that explains the fact that a once prolific poster is not around here anymore.  Position changes are tough, but he seemed to have a good attitude about the change and got a good amount of playing time.

lol I know burr! I just put an offer in for a home near Vero beach ,hopefully next winter I'll be well south of here ☺

Bill
Vero too far south for me. We have a place in Stuart, just north of W.Palm.Hot during the day ,cool at night. Ideal for this time of the year as well as the summer. South too humid and tropical for me.  My sister in law is in Vero. She loves it. Best of luck on your offer.

NewXbo : Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but not their own facts. In the last 25 years the football team overall record is 8-15-2 with 129 wins , 147 losses ad 2 ties. It's one thing to be a realist and another to be a pessimist. Sorry but I am a realist. You apparently are a polyanna.

Congrats, Bill!  Town motto "where the tropics begin"  sounds good to me.

Ouch!  Down 2 Dlinemen already!  Too bad about Sparks. He was just coming into his own.   Let's hope Lonardo and the freshman are healthy and ready to play.

Should we even have any live scrimmages in the spring?  The freshman all had enough game time last year.  Do we need to sacrifice any more bodies for 2 or 3 guys to prove that they can play??  No one has a choice with our lack of depth!!

Btw, what ever happened to that big announcement?

I guess it's the new turf. Can't announce it till BOT approves, I imagine.

I was excited to read that Mercado was coming back on the redshirt. Now pretty disappointed. Seems a trend.

Overall losing 2 from the roster is not out of the ordinary. I will miss Sparks as he was a good player who played with a lot of enthusiasm.  No idea what happened.

Dont know LC policy but,it may be that Mercado's app for 5th year has not been filed or approved yet by NCAA. A prerequisite to PL approval.

Maybe, rich.  Back in Nov fom a PR piece:

•Defensive line: End Beau Bosch suffered a knee (MCL) injury Saturday but should be fine, and he and all the other 2015 starters are back next year. They'll be joined by fifth-year senior Steve Mercado. They need to find a way to help raise the sack production. Lafayette produced only nine this season.///

Now not on roster.  Couldn't participate in spring ball, of course, but you'd think his name would appear on roster if redshirting.
RichH

May be LC policy. Technically,he cant actually be on roster as he has no eligibility. Over here all our seniors stay on til shortly before Spring practice. Heck, recall a few years when roster was not updated until the week before 1st game. Agree tho,odd that his name taken off,if he was going to apply.
Amy word how your wkend went? All quiet so far for ours, other than some recruits'flights cancelled til Monday.

I would only know via social media, rich, and that has been quiet. Not one name...
RichH

Me too. A bunch of great visit tweers from recruits I already knew. Should make twitter mandatory for HS senior football players Smile

Very likely he will not play. Will have to see but focused on school. Frank, Link did praise him for his attitude in the position change. I just saw this thread so have not posted. Have not even read the board for about 2 weeks. I kinda realize where we are. If I can't say anything positive I just don't post. Don't mean that as a negative. I just know a lot more now than before.

It what I heard is correct, the exit of Sparks had nothing to do with his positive attitude to the position change or his improvement as a player. Not a pretty thing, if my info is correct, but I'm not going to say anything about something I can't prove.  And Mercado apparently changed his mind and decided to move on with life.
