Season Over: State of the Program?

Nice fight last night, but how many tournaments do we plan to go into having to rally around the 2009 team came in with a low seed and made the finals?

The good news is our floor is higher than it used to be. 11 wins and virtually all of our stats back is promising. We should be able to pull off our first winning season in a hell of a long time next year. That's something..right?

And here we go...

Useless stat of the day: Coach Nolan's winning %  in games played after February 1 is an atrocious 16%.  That would be league games - when things are supposed to be coming together. Every year has been a pattern of showing promise early in the season and floundering at the home stretch. It's a troubling trend where other teams have settled into their rotations and found their groove and we're still trying to get an identity.

We're making some odd choices in scheduling - playing teams that bare no resemblence to PL teams for our early season games.

A lot of our players flatlined vs. last year stat-wise. Our team scoring didn't go anywhere either - despite hitting a  hell of a lot more 3's.

I didn't agree with throwing O'Hare to the wolves this season.  I see why it was done on some level as she was responsible for our dramatic rise in 3's,  but I think starting her on day one and giving her the most minutes of anybody was a mistake.  It's not like Nolan doesn't understand the concept of waiting until the time is right - the other three frosh got almost no time this year.

For me the floor is 15 wins next year - and keeping with that theme 7-7 in the league. Anything less will be a major disappointment.

I don't have time this week to post all my thoughts but a number of the teams that have "no resemblence" to PL teams were money games. The womens basketball team had to leave one individual go before the start of the season because they didn't have money for his salary. The Friends of Women's Basketball does not have any large donors and Maroon Club memberships don't bring in much either. You would think parents who's kids are getting a free ride for four years could pony up some decent $.

Good work, LCLF.  You're really on top of it finally, are you getting inside information?  One question, is this the Georgia girl or the New York girl?

Edit, never mind, I see Andy found an article with the State listed.

Re the injury:

"The news came back a little bit disappointing today from the second and third opinions of the MRI," Hamilton coach Benjamin Carter said. "It's a slight tear in her ACL. She's done." ...

Lohud.com

As many of you may have seen from conversations on Twitter, Hamilton standout senior Maia Hood has a slight tear in her ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

In a nutshell – Hood is a dynamic player because she has the size and aggressiveness of a forward (5’10’’) with the ball handling skills of a talented guard. From what I have been told, she has been leaning towards attending Lafayette....

Maia Hood: “When I first heard the news, I was shocked. When I first went down, I got back up and I was walking around and running. I told coach I wanted to go back in the game. The next day it was swollen and we got an MRI and X-ray.”

Yes, great job, and the spelling is always good for a laugh.   Surprised   He's earned a new title, Western States Coordinator, with an emphasis on Utah.  Get busy!

Hey, she's pals with Missy Franklin!

Anna is a 2014 recruit.  HS team was top team in CO, #41 nationally.  No srs on 12-13 roster.

On a star studded team, Anna - 5ppg, 34/76 2PFG, 18/68 3PFG, 18/20 FT.

A pretty nice statement about Lafayette College and Leopard Athletics when a guy wants his sister to come to Easton from Colorado to play ball.
