Season Over

Another starting line up, Are you kidding me!
Loose by double digits at home to a team we should have beat in their gym?  No consistency, no efficiency.

Noland has quit on the team and is playing for something other than winning.

Caught the local highlights of AU beating LU up at the airplane hangar. Compared to those teams, we need some more athletic people, with size, and can shoot from behind the arc. Other than that we look good. Don't understand the continuous high number of turnovers. I thought that was a Tammy thing, but, it seems to be a Lafayette thing.

Missing too many pieces.  Just hope that they are found and this puzzle starts coming together before Fiacco and Homan graduate and take what could/should be a great inside game with them.  Translation:  the current recruiting class is critical.

The prophet of doom is now the voice of reason? Who knew?

Other coaches have figured out how to beat this team.  While the season will go down as a huge disappointment, the underclassmen (women) are getting lots of experience.  And now Nolan will be mega challenged to recruit some real "playas."   Her enthusiasm and knowledge of the game should result in success BUT so far the program has not advanced.

Another view is that the program was so messed up that it will take Coach Nolan more than a year or two to fix it.  The fact is that the league has gotten better as well; and is no longer dominated by the girls from Worcester.

Let's see what happens with her recruiting.

Watching the Bucknell game, it's clear that the Pards have been focusing on playing sound defense, and the results have been pretty good.  However, Bucknell is a team in turmoil with an interim coach.  The Bison out hustled us, were much more aggressive and played in transition where it seems that the Pards don't really have a transition game.

I don't think we look that bad, though, all in all.  The problem is, we simply can't shoot.  I mean, to save their lives they can't sink a ball.  They really need to work on it.  Nor can they pass.  The process looks so labored to them at times.  Lots of medicine ball work, maybe?  I dunno the answer.

Danielle Fiacco is what she is.  She'll always be in there blocking and being disruptive, but no one ought to expect her to be a sharpshooter.

Emily Homan is the future.  She is someone you can build a team around.  If Coach Nolan can recruit a bunch of Emily Homans, we'll be fine.

I think that Brya Freeland is going to make a huge leap next year in her shooting.  She gets the ball out quickly and has nice technique.  I think her shots will go in more regularity in the future.

Correction.   Bucknell WAS a team in turmoil.   The firing of Kathy Fedorjaka ended that problem.    It's just too bad that it didn't happen back in October when the interim coach would have had time to implement a real offense and before Amy Zehner was driven away.

BU has now won two in a row and it very easily could have been four.    Most have probably forgotten that Bucknell has enough talent that they were selected for 4th in the PL preseason poll - even with the assumption that Fedorjaka was going to be coaching the players.

I'm of the opinion that when you get to this age, this level of competition, and this level of experience, you either can or you can't.  This will not be an acquired skill.  It will be a recruited skill.

Its unusual to have 4 freshman play so many minutes but you can't adjust to the college game without playing. Three of the freshman continue to struggle with their shooting and ball handling. Homan has picked up her game over the last few weeks and is now shooting a solid 48%. The other three continue to struggle with both their shooting and ball handling, none of them over 30% and have high turnover to assist ratios.

We set very few perimeter screens to get our guards shots. We move the ball side to side with the dribble which gives the defense time to recover. I don't know if we would be any better standing still but we do not shoot well off the dribble.

I'm with the POD on this one. You're either a shooter or you aren't. Lakeisha Wright markedly improved her foul shot over the years, but these girls are never going to be deadly from 3.

And that makes life harder for Fiacco. She has to work a bit on getting it back out to the perimeter, but to what end? Another missed shot?

And yeah...Imagine what Homan could do with a little more space.

I haven't seen much, but I agree completely with X. I couldn't understand why we weren't setting any high screens to get some decent looks.
