Solid Performance

It was something you don't see much anymore, 40 minutes of solid man to man defense by both teams. AB still struggling with his shot but he made two nice lefthanded floaters in the lane a three pointer over the last few minutes to help secure a 69-62 win over Colgate. Colgate also played a solid game and was better than I expected. There freshman Yaw Gyawu looks like hes going to be a good one.

Another strong performance by Willen, 14 points and 6 rebounds even though he was limited to 21 minutes because of foul troubles. From my seat his fourth foul, a charge, was a bad call. Mintz and Koltun also had solid games against the more athletic Woodhouse and Gyawu.

In the end, the game was decided at the line where the Pards made 24 of 29 for 83%, while Colgate was only 13 of 25 for 52%.

Navy at home on Saturday will require another all out effort.

Cant read too much into the box score but we must have shot poorly.  I am however happy with lineup changes and Willen, Mintz combo - at least we are not geting killed off the glass night in and night out.  Hoping to see Benbow keep his minutes up as his athletic ability is as clear as his lack of bulk.  Mower hurt as thats another kid I'd like to see keep getting PT.

Does Fran ever play a zone?? I think rarely. Second point, AB is still in a funk but I am glad to see the others rise to the occasion and perhaps that will take some of the pressure off him. Koltun is making a real effort and is improving as well, he still has a ways to go.
This team will be getting better!!

Sounds like it was well played game.   Glad we grabbed that win.  Winning at Colgate is always difficult for us.

Not unless something drastic happens like an injury, the league is slowly shaping up to a two team race.  I'm sure Lehigh will make some noise in the tournament but they have to be disappointed losing to American and Navy.  And they lost to Princeton.....

1.   Winning at Colgate is difficult for a lot of teams.    But this game was played in Easton.

2.   If Doherty is healthy for Holy Cross, they definitely can be a factor in the race.    If everyone is healthy, they will be better than Navy and might be able to challenge American.    However that is a big "if".

Fran plays a matchup zone and a halfcourt trap frequently.

I know the game was at Easton.  i should have written:  Glad we grabbed that win because beating them at Colgate will be difficult for us."

Thanks for pointing that out.

Holding serve at home is a must in any league. Navy will be a good indicator of where we are.

Go Pards!
