SPRING IS HERE -- FINALLY

Practices start tomorrow, and the field has been cleared of last week's snow and should be ready for play. Here's a preview from The Morning Call.

And today (Tuesday), QB O'Malley and P Turk were officially announced by the college sports information dept.

Things will be different. Hopefully the results will be as well.

I think the Poll is a little too simple.   I voted as who will start week 1, and I believe that will be McCrum.   But I believe by the end of the season one of the Frosh will own the job of QB1

It will be a wide open competition, but I think the frosh from Ohio will win the job.  Also think we will see much more Dunn and West than Brown.

None of us know, none us have seen our rising freshmen in college competition. Current players will have the advantage of a spring under their belt.

My vote is for McCrum.  It may be true that he wasn't picking up the offense as fast as Tavani would have liked.  But that could be a reflection on the teacher just as much as the student.  The slate has been wiped clean and we have maybe the best QB coaching duo in FCS.

He certainly looks the part.  We haven't had a QB that big and strong in...forever!

I believe McCrum has the upper hand. The training he will get this spring, and the summer to further prepare, gives him a great opportunity. If player development was a big issue before, shouldn't we expect great improvement.
I wouldn't judge any of the players based on where they were. None of the other current quarterbacks played last year either.

I don't think Garrett will start a freshman on Day One at Monmouth. Between McCrum and Davis, may the better man win. I'll go with Josh Davis in the opener for this poll simply because he's got the most tenure with the team and knows the receivers best.

I do think we'll see a freshman at the helm by game four when The Curse arrives in Easton. Something tells me Coach Garrett has that game circled on his calendar.
