Steve Serling 10 Selected Ninth in MLL Draft

He now of course plays for Hofstra under the graduate student transfer rule.  I hate that rule.

Fear not, lax fans.  We still have Serling's little brother, Colin, who is a junior.  Plus we now have the Brothers Floyd, out of Shaker Heights, Ohio. I expect monumental things from freshman attack Mike Galione.  This is a kid who could have a scholarship but likely chose Lafayette so he could play (or even start) all four years.  This kid will be the new Matt Mersky.

Goalie is an issue. Replacing DePasquale will not be easy.  The team does not have an upperclassman with experience.  My guess is that they start with sophomore Ed Stubits in the net but that one of the freshmen, Andrijko Andrusko or Jake Hyatt, takes over.  Hyatt played against very tough competition in H.S. but Andrusko has the accolades.

Note - four games will be played at Fisher Field this year.  This is a good thing.  I'll be out at Metzgar on Saturday Feb. 19 for the opener vs. Fairfield.  Anyone else?

Galione may turn out to be very good, but I'm fairly sure he did not have any D1 scholarship offers.

I played back in the dark days of the late 90's for Bill Lawson and live in Ridgefield now.  I saw Galione play for Roy Colsey's (of Syracuse fame) Ridgefield squad last spring.  He's going to be just fine at this level.

I hope he does well.    I saw him play 15+ times in H.S.   He comes from a family of Bucknellians.

I'm certainly pleased young Mr. Gailione dared to be different.

As for Coach Lawson, I'm pretty sure that ALL living alumni who played lacrosse played for Bill.  My, how things have changed.

His #1 choice was Bucknell but BU would only take him as a walk-on, with no guarantee about making the team.     He liked the idea of being a recruited athlete a lot better.      Fedorajka may regret not actively recruiting him.   Only time will tell.

In other words, his #1 choice was Lafayette.  Very Happy
