The Study..any leaks?

The report is due in one month. Has anyone heard anything or has the "cone of silence", been instituted. Who on this board has been interviewed??

I am hearing the public roll out of the report will now come out in May. One member of the committee has told me not to expect anything radical. He believes the administration is not ready to bite any bullets. The football situation has been enough according to the same source.

"The Report" is now 2 1/2 months overdue and was not even referenced in Byerley's "State of the College" speech 2 weeks ago.I wonder if the school has it and is sitting on it .I'm going to email the sports information department to  inquire as to the status of the report.

Do you suppose they got results they didn't like and are trying a other approach? Has the college changed consultants?  It would seem they collected enough material to make recommendations in the first six months. Maybe there is so much disarray in the department that too much change is required to make things better. The top officials in athletics can't be happy with the delay. Unless, of course, they are the reason for the delay. Giving could be at a standstill and that wouldn't be a good thing.

They have not changed consultants.

What on earth is there to further study? More losses?

Imagine if this was ANY one of our businesses, and what would happen if this important a report were delayed by this long.  Circumstances happen, mangers/executives/coaches come and go - not getting it done and presenting the findings in a timely manner to the stakeholders reflects more excuses in what has become a culture of excuses.   Now, more than before, I am expecting a watered down dose of pabulum if the findings as a whole are even released.  Expected more from President B.

Lafalum - Thanks for correction . I watched the speech but must have missed it. You are correct- I was advised by Annette Diorio the VP in charge that the report was due September 30th.She was very nice and responded to my inquiry with a lengthy email which was non-platitudinous. Nevertheless there were some concerning statements which Ms. Diorio made by way of explanation regarding the reasons for delay. I don't want to post those because I would feel that I was not being forthright with Ms. Diorio by "publicly" revealing the comments from her personal email to me.

Alison may have made remarks in the state of the college message but became more detailed in a later speech at a class dinner. She is well aware of the importance of the study. Not coincidentally, the target date is near the  next BOT meeting.
To my mind, the delay raises the attention given to the results and its consequences. The using of a headhunter for filling the football and women's basketball positions may be giving us a hint of how she and Annette feel about our management capabilities. ( Just a thought).

It is incredibly disappointing that the "Study" is taking so long - Sept 30th now.  The only thing I can think of is that the original report was pablum or pretty much keep things as they are and maybe spending some more money.  Then the Grentz fiasco shone the light directly on the AD and the athletic administration including Diorio so now the President will have to wrestle with tough decisions on the staff.  I'm still not sure why that is taking nearly five months (original report was due in April).  Any sort of data gathering should not take nearly that long.  So we muddle along with the athletic dept. operating in a state of limbo.  Simply amazing.

I haven't posted in a while, but things on the Hill appear to have gone from bad to worse.  The study was flawed from the beginning with Bruce and Grentz on the "committee".

Bruce is obviously part of the problem and despite others feelings to the contrary, I don't see the heir apparent in the current athletic admin either.  Does the prez really need to wait for the results of the study to cut the cord on the AD? Do it now. If we wait until the study outcome, we will likely be stuck with another year of his awful leadership.

Let's go AB, earn that new five-year contract!

What was "the Grentz fiasco" besides going 4-28 (no big deal around here!) ?
A 4-28 record is just a speed bump on this Highway to Hell.
What did she do?

And now, it's time for this message and it has nothing to do with feelings ... nothing more than .. feelings ...

Crank it up! Don't need reason, don't need rhyme ...

This isn't an easy consulting job after all.

Meeting One,

Consultants: "Our quick review indicates you have three coaches who've lost more than 1,000 games combined and rarely competed in the league."

Lafayette response: "Yes but we like them."

Turn it up and let's get this program "Back in Black":

You're welcome to lose in Easton as long as you condescendingly remind us that your players graduate and are great citizens. Grentz didn't follow the script - she made it clear there were fundamental weaknesses in the players ability and didn't blame injuries, scheduling or the AI.

Shame on her.
bethlehempard

Coaches who say that are basically supporting the Rothkopfian D3 ideal while they make a lower level D1 salary.
If that's the goal we don't have to pay players.

As Ransom Stoddard has pointed out, there is a lot more to the Grentz story than her pointing out the "fundamental weaknesses" in the players.  On that point she may have been correct in most cases but then there is her obnoxious and domineering personality among other things.

Certainly agree that intimidation and bullying don't get a desired result after a short period of time because the players simply lose all confidence and tune you out as nothing more than white noise.  First and foremost, these coaches should be teachers.  They are there to make their players better, not to intimidate them.

Ed, anyone who attended the women's end of season banquet or any regular post game receptions knows the game has passed her bye.

Just: Thanks for pointing that out.  I have heard that from several of the players' parents.  It is interesting that Coach Damon wants to play an "up tempo" style.  It certainly seems to fit with today's strategy for many teams.  Maybe it is more fun for the players, too.  Hopefully, with the nine players left, the coach can find a few who can play that style.  With Freshmen, you never know.  It appears that it takes them a full season to get comfortable with the speed and quality of the players in D1.
