They Haven't Won Since I Put Them on Page One!

Oh, yes they have - Pards 12, Bingo 6.

They won last year, but skidded considerably.

How about a positive message, like "building a lacrosse power" or something.

I'll change it soon.

Full disclosure: I'm not a lax fan. Not in terms of the sport - but in high school and at Lafayette the most obnoxious buffoons in the athletic department were lacrosse players and the teams STUNK (this is obviously a long time ago and has nothing to do with the current team.)

Same thing...different era...."on the verge of being a national powerhouse... great showings at fall ball games.

So frankly as the team rose in the rankings last year I didn't buy into it... I had seen plenty of hype before.  Then I finally thought "wow maybe this team is amazing" and they wound up being another middle-of-the-pack Lafayette team that lost its game to Lehigh.

Lax players are a cult and can be prone to such behavior.  Just be glad there isn't a huge wrestling presence on campus.  They're much worse.

Lacrosse is getting better at Lafayette, but more schools are adding it and most of those that are adding it are funding it fully.  Lafayette seems to avoid playing full-scholarship schools.  We don't even play Rutgers, which is really odd.

I was friends with a few Lacrosse guys when in school.  Generally really good guys, but a few have those prep school entitlement issues, but that of course is not a  Lacrosse only problem.  I agree about wrestlers.  They are the strangest bunch of guys you will ever meet.

Lacrosse may very well fall into the realm of an "also-ran" sport at Lafayette in a few years. As larger schools, such as Florida, add varsity lacrosse programs, the pool of talented HS players will be spread much or thinly. We will become less attractive than we already are, not to mention competition for quality coaches. We need to continue to establish some visibility and positive reputation before falling into the abyss. Of all LC sports, this program can provide the greatest return... the sport provides high visibility for the school in the middle-upper class demographic, which has been our target for a long time.

I don't see how that happens without scholarships and that has no chance  of happening. We lost Jeff Kirby's son to Duke how are we going to attract someone who has never heard of us??
We do however play in one of the best Lacrosse leagues in the country. The question again is we have to win!!

Duke is Duke. If you are wanted by Duke, you will go to Duke. He probably wants something different anyway. Duke is known for aggressively recruiting students from families with status in order to become the next Ivy.

Totally agree with you.  LC must offer lacrosse athletic scholarships.  Lax alums need to step up the contributions.

Not a prayer.  With football scholarships waiting in the wings - and they are - more financial athletic aid for males would only make our Title IX problems worse.

We don't *need* lacrosse scholarships - they'd be nice, but we can be competitive without them.  We do need high quality coaches with enough pay to retain them, a recruiting budget, and some reasonable support for the program.
