Update Patriot League Links?

Mr. Moderator, if you have the time and inclination, might it be possible to update the links at the top of the main page?

Here are what I believe to be the most active links for each school:

Any Given Saturday (FCS/General Patriot League Forum): http://www.anygivensaturday.com/

American: http://auhoops.proboards.com/ - Appears to be unwelcoming to other PL fans.

Army: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=239

Boston:  http://www.basketballforum.com/patriot-league/

Bucknell: http://boards.basketball-u.com/showforum.php?fid/53/ - Welcomes other PL fans.

Colgate: http://www.voy.com/227566/ - Welcomes other PL fans.

Fordham:  http://fordhamfans.smfforfree.com/ - Welcomes other PL fans.

Georgetown: http://hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=football - This is not necessarily a place for outsider's views.

Holy Cross: http://s2.excoboard.com/Crossports - Welcomes other PL fans.

Lafayette: http://lafayettesports.myfreeforum.org/index.php - Welcomes other fans.  Clearly the best PL site.

Lehigh: http://www.lehighsportsforum.com/forums/forum/lehigh-sports - A bit difficult to navigate.  Welcomes other PL fans.

Loyola:  http://loyolahoops.proboards.com/index.cgi - Must register in order to view/read posts.

Navy: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=240

No problems for me.  Try resetting your network card and/or clearing your browser cache.

Thanks, bogie.  Clearing cache didnt help.  Compatibility view  seemed to do the trick but now back to bad again.  Frustrating, it's just this site.

Bogey  - I'll get them up. The code on this board is...Interesting. But I'll take care of it soon.

Andy - having same problem. Looking into the problem on the myfreeforum boards - might be time to take down the ads.

Doing just fine today. Thanks!

Yeah, it could be the ads slowing things down.  I'm using AdBlock, set to partially, but not completely, avoid the most troublesome ads.  The banner on the top of the forum and the links following the most recent active post aren't a problem or a distraction, so I leave them alone.

All in all, the myfreeforum.org forum host does a decent job and I've become very accustomed to the look and feel of the Lafayette Sports Forum.  It ain't broke so why fix it?  Always one to tinker around, though, some time ago I made a beta image of the Lafayette Sports Forum header graphic, replacing the crawling leopard with a chalkboard Frankosaurus.  Maybe when the time is right . . . .

Just bumping this request to update some of the links.

Bogus Megapardus

Gently reminding Mr. Maroon that a update of the links might be helpful.  In addition, fans of our newest member, Boston University, seem to be posting here:

http://www.basketballforum.com/patriot-league/

They're calling it a "Patriot League Basketball Forum" even though several other already exist.

Not bad spot. A bit of a different perspective on PL. I still miss our old voy board.

Rich - sounds like you inherited some malware somewhere.  Assuming you're running a version of Windows (XP or greater) on an ordinary x86 or x64 PC,  I'd suggest the following overhaul.  When installing the applications, ALWAYS select the "advanced" or "experienced user" options, and ALWAYS uncheck ALL of the install options, such as toolbars, browser homepage conversions, dialog boxes, etc., except the "check for updates" option.

1.  Download, install and run the "free" version of cCleaner.  After installation, run it in its default settings.  The reboot your PC.

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

2.  Download, install and run the free version of MalwareBytes.  Run the comprehensive scan, not just the "quick" scan.  Then reboot your PC.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

3.  Download, install and run the free version of SuperAntiSpyware, and run the comprehensive scan.  Then reboot your PC.

http://www.superantispyware.com/

4.  Never again use Microsoft Internet Explorer.  Pretend it doesn't exist.  Avoid it completely.  Instead, install and use Firefox:

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

or Maxthon:

http://www.maxthon.com/

Remember to instruct Windows to to set the new browser as your "default" browser, and to reset your homepage to your liking in "preferences."  Then reboot your computer.

5.  If you're running Firefox (as I do), download, install and run AdBlock Plus.  You'll be SO glad you did:

http://adblockplus.org/en/firefox

After installation, you can tinker with the AdBlock Plus settings for some pages that just don't look right.

6.  Install and maintain a quality anti-virus and anti-spyware program of your choice.  Microsoft's Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials used to have a bad reputation but now they're pretty good, and they put MUCH less strain on your system than AGP, Norton, etc.

7.  These steps will fix 95% of problems.  If you're still getting erratic behavior, you could have a rootkit or another pervasive virus, or it could be that the DNS settings in your router have been hijacked.  You'll have to run "HiJackThis"

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

and send me a copy of the text format logfile that it generates for further diagnosis.  Don't worry, those things can be fixed, too.  But don't mess with HiJackThis other than to create a log file.

8.  NEVER, ever use any of those "Clean My PC" sites that you see advertised.  Ever.

I know this is a little complicated, but it will work.  Good luck.

Hardly.  Then again, I've never had a "store bought" computer, either.  I build and test computers as an occasional hobby, and I sometimes help out developers with beta testing and the like.  But I have absolutely zero formal education in computers or computer technology, and I never earned a penny from it, so you can't sue me if I'm wrong.
RichH

Thanks Bogie. Worked like a charm.
