What would it take to use the new stadium for graduation? I was there last year and the quad slopes down away from the library so those in the back cannot see, it rained and was muddy. What would it take to have the whole ceremony on the Jumbotron so that everyone could get a great view and weather really wouldn't matter unless it was raining that day. Also, the rain location is Kirby fieldhouse so it is right next door. There are a lot of pluses, can't really think of many minuses besides the BOT not wanting it.

That would be a great idea. You wouldn't have to reset chairs as there is already seating there and the sun is not in your face. It wouldn't be the first time graduation was moved. It used to be in front of South College.

Agreed. The stadium would certainly provide a better view for all those in attendance. The Library does provide a nice setting but is seriously flawed, and the profs would have a heart attack moving it from the academic center of campus, The Library, to an athletic complex

Way too logical - never happen. That said, it can get a bit toasty on a turf field if its a hot day - warmer than Quad anyway.

Please keep bleachers, chairs, stages, podiums, whatever, off of our beautiful field turf. Graduations are well suited to natural grass.

No keep it on the Quad... it is the college's heart, and is nice, park-like setting. The stadium would be too impersonal.

There is no way it would be held at the football stadium...there would probably be faculty protests...I also think it would be too impersonal...when you talk to the students, they really look forward to having it on the quad...and from a background standpoint that is the best place on campus.

Right... at the end of the ceremony, the students get to parade 2x2 as their friends, family, and faculty line the route... think of it as the player-intro column at the Super Bowl.
Plus, students spent their four years traversing the Quad. I love football and the new stadium, but I'd only go there for the games or on the way to the gym... that's what sets us apart from dopey Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Lehigh... Seton Hall graduates in the Cotinental Arena, and now the Rock... talk about impersonal and an irrelvant atmosphere to one's college years.
