vs. Navy

Up by 4 at the half.  Playing great D.  Homan and Fiacco doing it at both ends.

Peabody goes end to end to send it to OT.

Final:  Navy 60, Lafayette 52

Too many empty trips down the floor in the second half.

Good effort.

An uh oh alert:  Navy starts no seniors.

They have no seniors on their roster.

Overall a nice effort. Navy's got a nice team.

O'Hare takes a lot of shots without her shoulders square - you can tell they aren't going in before she releases. A frosh trying to make things happen. I can live with it, just hope to see less of it as she develops.

It's odd how little we're getting to the line in a lot of these games. I would have liked to see Homan get a few more shots. But I wasn't watching the game and thinking we weren't working the ball aronund well.

We need consistent scoring from someone under six feet tall. Seems like we have to start every game not knowing who happens to be on that day. Loughney got six minutes - although Manning was playing well so that probably had something to do with it.

Why senior day with two more home games?

We're getting there.

I'd guess because it's the final weekend home game.

Homan was guarded by Geif most of the game. Although 3" shorter Geif had her by 30 pounds and used her size and strength to push her out of the paint. In spite of Navy's physical play, only 2 fouls were called on them the entire first half.

O'Hare had a bad game, 1 for 10 from the floor, a number of her shots were drives to the basket where she just threw the ball up against the backboard, including one that was against the back of the back board.  Peabody had a nice game as her replacement, 10 points on 4 of 7 shooting, including a coast to coast effort to tie the game.

While the stats list us with 17 TOs, Navy also had 9 "steals" most of which were bad passes we made to the low post, or to the wings.

We also had 3 fouls to give with a 2 point lead with 47 seconds left and Navy with the ball and we elected not to foul.

Navy's 5 starters played 40, 40, 39, 37 and 37 minutes. Their four subs scored 0 points.

O'Hare still deciding too many times to go one on five with the other team.  You can see it when it begins and you know that she won't be looking for any teammates and that she will probably end up out of control.  This rarely turns out well.  Another freshman mistake, but it certainly doesn't come from lack of confidence, does it?
