What will it take to beat Georgetown?

Georgetown?  Our chances?  What can we hope to see?
artanis

Three things just absolutely jump off the page.

1) Establish the run! LC ranks near the bottom in this category. What does it take to gain 100 yards a game? Take pressure off the passing game. Until this happens, teams will drop extra into coverage.

2) Stop the run... LC near the very bottom here as well. Teams pound away, controlling the clock and ultimately leading to...

3) Fatigue. No accident that LC defenders are gassed by the fourth stanza, leading to collapse.

Last chance for a "W".

And Franks last chance for a win also...3 more games before this nightmare ends then hope and optimism with a new coaching staff next season!

Inertia is strong on the Hill.
Plan A: FT stays
Plan B: FT retires

Don't overlook the possibility of Plan C:

FT stays and an heir-apparent associate HC is named.

Run our new RB early and often. Bucknell has a great running D. So to get the yards he did was pretty impressive.

Counter with our passing game which should do even better with an improved running game.  And, most importantly, keep the O on the field!!!!

We should be more athletic than Georgetown, but they will be more fundamentally sound and make fewer mistakes (ie better coached).  I think Dunn will get enough yards to be respectable, like 60 or 70, and Reed should be able to put up some yards in the air.  I think we will score some points, but we need to limit turnovers.

No idea what to expect on D, but worried that Georgetown will run all over us as well.

Some stats for you.  Last win at home was over two years ago against the Hoyas in October of 2014. Last league win was 150.  We are 2-4 against the Hoyas in our last 6 games.  Lehigh has never lost to Georgetown. This is Frank's last chance to avoid 2-20.

Shocked Things have been so bad I really haven't even thought about that...

At this point I have no idea what it will take to beat GTown. This is a team that hung with Harvard and almost beat Fordham. I think this will be a team hungry for a win against a team with a broken will. Sometimes its not the x's and o's but the Jimmy's and Joe's. I think this will be one of those times. If we don't come out hot and hungry for a win it will go in GTown's favor.

All the comments are are pretty accurate. I will say something that hasn't been discussed. We need BB back at Lber.  The other boys have been making tackles but tackles after a 7 yard gain don't cut it. Plus BB makes some explosive plays at times.

Besides that, the comments are pretty true. I think it is possible to win, maybe even likely. Personally I think it has more to do with our mental preparation vs. our physical. Will we be ready to play. Spoke with a couple of boys last week. Staring to get down on themselves, recognized they played better last week but still a loss. Some are now just going through the motions. The older boys know what this week means.
SIDELINER

That "going through the motions" attitude is exactly what Coach T was talking about last week. Maybe the loss to Bucknell also had something to do with that. But these are quality athletes and should be wanting to do whatever it takes to try to end this superslide. BB isn't coming back this year, so the others have to step in. Hinchen has done everything you could ask him for, and maybe more. Root is getting good experience reps. Need a couple more to hit it hard on Saturday. Let it all hang out and see what happens.

Lets hope so. Sideliner, you have been there. Its tough to get back up sometimes. And I can understand why some feel the way they do. Personally I think they will be ready on Saturday. I did not realize BB was out for the year. I hope he can get a redshirt. Very familiar with Root and Hinchen.

Unfortunately he played too many games to qualify for a medical hardship waiver.

I hate that for BB. Nice young man and a fierce football player. I knew it was close but wasn't sure.
SIDELINER

BB tore ACL 90 percent and MCL 100 percent  -- or vice versa -- and has already had his surgery. From what I know of him, he's probably already at work in the weight room getting ready for 2017. He is every bit as tough as any of the best linebackers ever to play at Lafayette and watching these losses is killing him.

Somebody mentioned about Yasir Thomas playing defense. I heard the same thing. His bio has some glowing defensive facts in it. I like that move -- especially if C.J Amill now goes back to wide receiver because Mike Dunn has become the favored running back.

The Hoyas weigh in. The first paragraph is funny, like it or not.
This is the Basement Bowl.

When you get no respect the opponent doesn't even get the names of your players correct. According to that article Mike Reed is the new RB.

Got to love when a disconnected coach going through the motions talks about his team just going through the motions.

According to DFW Hoya, a poster on AGS, Georgetown will be using a converted D-lineman at RB, and they are also very shaky at QB.  We should beat these guys, but not confident we will.

Just like we should have beat Bucknell with a backup QB and a shell of a defensive starting lineup? The days of "We should beat..." are long gone. At 2-17 over the last 2 years we shouldn't beat anyone. According to Massy, every game left would be an upset. Actually Massy has our chances of victory from here on out at 31% this week, 9% against Gate, and 3% in the Rivalry.

For all the guys who have maintained their proper attitude and kept grinding, I hope to see some smiling faces.  Hopefully a hard fought win today.
