Why don't we play in any tournaments?

When was the last time we played in an in-season tournament?  2000?

I know we played in the pre-season NIT in 2006, but that was at Indiana and was essentially a loss.

But what about these holiday tournaments?  Loyola's presence at the Barclay's Center tournament got me thinking about this...

If Lafayette is in a holiday tournament with, let's say, Maryland, Providence, and Fairfield, what's wrong with that?

I'm no expert but maybe we would rather play in a play for pay game, just for the money?? I'm not sure but is there any money in the tournaments for the participants??

Depending on the event, there can be a lot of money.   What is more common than a Christmas tournament is an early season multi-team event which allows teams to have more games on the schedule than is otherwise allowed.   Bucknell played four games in the Legends Classic this year, including pay games at Michigan and Villanova.

The preseason NIT definitely pays teams as well.   When LC played at Indiana, I'm pretty sure they also played a second game as well as part of that event.
