Women's Indoor Track & field

Congratulations to Julio and the women's indoor track team.  They finished second at the Patriot League championship this past weekend.  That has to be the highest finish in a over a decade.

Brings back the days when our women's team was winning the ECC.

Its even more amazing considering the facility we have (or don't have). The team will now have to travel to some local high school to practice for the spring season.  All the permits are now in place but construction has still not started. I hope the contractor is not waiting for warm weather at Metzger.

The women's team has been improving over the last few years wih strong throwers and decent jumps and now a good sprinter/hurdler. The men's team still has a way to go but with the vaulter/footballer coming in we should be better next year.

An amazing performance--doubling the Army womens' points and three times Lehigh's.  Congratulations ladies!

Does anybody know the status of the new track facility? According to the web site, construction started April 24. Its been more than 4 months so I imagine its completed but there has been no word about it. Are they waiting to announce a dedication?

Track

I was out there a week ago. It is not finished, but it is moving along. Looks to me like another month's work.

I was out there on Friday night to watch the Soccer game (not a good performance) and you must know a LOT more about these things than I do because it doesn't look remotely close to finished to me...

Then again..it's a track, not a cathedral.

Either way the soccer game was disappointing. We were beat to almost every ball, our defense just broke down a few times and our passing on the attacking end was poor. Hoping for a better day tomorrow against Northwestern.

Don't get me wrong--Temple looked pretty darn good---but I expected more given our big win the week previous.

I think it will be done, (usable) in the next two weeks. The perimeter fence has to be completed - the posts are in but the rails and material need
to be installed - probably 2 or 3 days work. The only other project is the rubber coating over the asphalt. They usually wait 30 days after the asphalt is put down for it to offgas so the rubber doesn't bubble. The asphalt work was completed around the middle of August. The dirt areas have been seeded so it may be weeks before everything looks green. Its been a longtime coming.

I checked out the new track before last nights field hockey match, which we won 3-1 over Temple. The fence is now complete and the grass is starting to grow. Looks like they only need to complete the surface of the track and it will be done.
