Womens' Soccer - Bucknell

Much to the delight of Bison I'm sure, the LC women's soccer team got smoked by an apparently very good Bucknell team 4-0 last night in Lewisburg.  This outcome was not surprising as the LC women are on the way to a reprise of last season with a cupcake OOC Schedule then doing poorly in the PL.  The continued losing ways of this sport suggests that the AD should reevaluate the coaches since they have full scholies I believe, and the PL results have not been good.  Anyone who can provide more info about this group is welcome to do so.  I will attend their game vs American on Saturday and get a first hand look.

I'm not here to defend the past, but as far as this year goes, Bucknell is currently 9-0-1. So maybe this isn't the game to use as an indicator, especially when you insinuate that some people should lose their jobs. The draw with Loyola is a pretty good result all things considered, and there are still plenty of winnable games left of the schedule.

Marooner: I did not mean to "insinuate" that anyone should lose their job.  The comment was aimed at the AD who IMHO needs to hold coaches accountable.  Nothing would please me more than to see the women's soccer program have a successful year defined as having a winning PL record and making the tournament and winning a tournament game.  I am certainly not holding this team to a higher standard than any other LC Team but I think the emphasis for all sports which have athletic scholarships should be on winning not losing or competing.  LC has had so few teams in recent years with winning records and so few PL Championships that something needs to be done, and it starts with the AD.

Good luck to women's soccer for the rest of this season.  I sure hope they succeed in the PL.  If the Bisons can do it, there is no reason that we cannot.

What does "hold coaches accountable" mean? What do you expect the AD to do?

Glad you asked x:  The AD's reputation is that he emphasizes budgets not wins.  It should be the opposite IMHO.  In the case of w soccer, they have not had a winning record in the PL for a long time.  Maybe it is time for a change if they don't start winning this year.  The game on Sat vs. AU is very winnable so they should start with that.  BTW, the 2 losses to Ivy League teams this year are a real blot on the record.

And who tells the AD to focus on budgets?

Womens soccer should do better with all the scholarships. Title 9 insures lots of money for women's sports but that shouldn't let them off the hook in regard to athletic performance.

Fly: I don't know who tells the AD to focus on budgets.  But it has been true for a long time, long before Alison.

Glad you agree that the scholarship sports should not be let off the hook due to performance.
