Yankee Stadium game DVD mystery

I recently sent email to what I thought was a CBS address about DVDs for 150.

The response:

Lafayette does not hold the rights to the 150th game and cannot make it available for purchase.

Thank you for your interest.

*Unfortunately I erased the game from my DVR months ago. This seems odd, when one can have made upon request DVDs of really obscure bad movies such as "Steele Justice."

Of course, the College knows full well who owns the rights to #150 and why there has been no DVD release.  Would not their reply to you have been considerably more helpful and informative had they included these things?

BethPard, I assume this was a horrible inadvertent mistake?!?!  Erase #150!?

That was definitely a mistake but I was assuming that a game that:

-drew 48,000 people
-featured a legendary performance by Ross Scheuerman and a mind-boggling one by Zachary Z
-got more national attention than usual
-was a spectacular thrashing of LU

would be a great promotional item for the college and worth putting on a disc and selling. The school got a ton of the Frank Baur covers back in the day. So this omission is a little odd. Perhaps it's out of Lafayette's hands (another benefit of that "home" game). There's some money to be made by somebody, perhaps a bootlegger.
I just assumed I could buy it.
I can't but I can get the last Robert Morris game.

I am not a lawyer but I think there is little LC can do here if CBS owns the rights. I guess CBS could sell it to LC but not sure what that price would be. Not sure why LC and Lehigh did not work this out earlier. I imagine they tried.

My guess is that CBS or one of its affiliates owns the copyright.  I did a search of U.S copyright records (using a variety of keywords) and nothing came up.  That doesn't mean that CBS doesn't hold the copyright, though.  You don't actually have to "file" a copyright for it to be valid.  Plus the copyright index is notoriously lame.

Again, just guessing, CBS likely would license the copyright for a price.  I would imagine that price is too steep for Lafayette and Lehigh; the schools would lose a lot of money selling DVDs to alums at a reasonable price.  CBS really has no incentive to license it.

I'm hoping that "somebody" saved a DVR of the game.  It can be extracted and saved legally by the owner who watched the game and recorded it.  It just can't be distributed to others.  I am more than willing to purchase an entire DVR device containing an intact copy of the game if anyone has one.  I can do the rest.

Don't care per se if CBS owns the broadcast as long as the public can buy a copy of the game.

I had it on DVR but Comcast upgraded the box and it was removed.

I received an email yesterday ... mystery solved, finally -- http://lafayette-media.cbscollege...store_id=386&partner_id=22033
