Your Pick For Biggest Game (Non-Lehigh)What is your pick for a make or break game this year? If you put all your eggs in the League championship/playoffs basket, you'll probably be looking at Holy Cross or Colgate. As for me, I think we get to "show me" time real early. If we don't win at least one of the back to back games against Liberty and Penn, it will be a long season, regardless of how we make out in the League.
Opinions?

I'll pick Liberty just becuase they are considered more "big time" than our other opponents. HC would be huge just becuase they are the favorite. In the interest of keeping my streak of disagreeing with Carney alive, I would say out of league games aren't as critical as he would suggest. Especially since they are early in the season. If we lose one or both we can still win the league. Granted we would have the all too familiar "kissing your sister" kind of season again but success could still be achieved.

Carney, you are making your pick before the season starts......Regardless of what happens early, by the time the HC game rolls around, it could well be the biggest game.

So, you're telling me that if we hit the HC game at 5-4 or (shudder) 4-5, but with a chance to win the League and then be totally humiliated by some CAA team in the playoffs, that the 'sader affair will be the holy grail of the 2009 season? Frankly, I'd like to see some evidence that we're a little better than just sliding by and being the best of a mediocre lot. The 8 days from the Liberty game to the Penn game are "show me" time. Early in the year or not, OOC or not, this is where the rubber meets the road.

Since we're only postulating, maybe I'm telling you that if we hit the HC game at 6-3 with a chance at the playoffs, a loss would be devestating and would probably lead to a repeat performance of last year in the Lehigh game.

We almost certainly, in my opinion, would have beaten Liberty or Penn and all of this would be moot because we would have proven ourselves to be a competitive team.
