I would like to introduce myself as a new Leopard fan and a new member of this forum.  I am Collin Alberhardt's grandfather.  Although I will admit to obvious bias, I think that I can add some info regarding Collin that may not be generally known.
First he is excited about coming to Lafayette to learn, to grow, and to play football.
Collin's large and close-knit family is also excited for Collin - we feel LC is a perfect fit.
I am impressed with the athletic, academic and spiritual caliber of the 20 recruits in Collin's class.  I predict that they will become an outstanding group that LC may long remember.
Colorado is a long way from Easton, PA, but the family is looking into travel arrangements, season tickets, etc.
I am happy to finally be a member of this forum after following the chatter regarding recruiting for some time.
More to come about Collin later.

Bill, I had been enjoying my vacation....maybe an insider can explain to us how LC failed to sign this kid. Is disgrace too strong a word?  Didn't Partidge play for Coach Loose?  Blake couldn't help.  Jeezuz.  At least he didn't go to Gate.   Unless test scores were an issue, another swing and miss this year. VERY disappointing.

Bryant is a quality school, but they have no academic index to worry about.  It is possible that grades were an issue.  He does list his offers as " Temple, Lafayette, Colgate, Rutgers and Bucknell"and if all those are true his choice of Bryant is rather surpising.

I believe Partridge has a good relationship with Frank and Loose, and I believe was an assistant at LC for a year or two back in the mid-2000's.   I doubt there is a rift here, but you never know.

It would be understandable and relatively acceptable if he went with any of those finalist schools on the list, but Bryant!?  The worst team in FCS two years ago?  One of the worse last year? Why?

Welcome COpard!  We have a few other Pard parents on here and love your opinions.  Your grandson sounds like an exciting player and we are happy to have him.  Plus, if he does well in the classroom, he will have many great connections and opportunities with alumni.  They help each other out.

Just curious, but would there have been any way your grandson would have considered LC without scholarships?  It's our first year awarding them and curious to learn how they played out on the recruiting trail...

ps don't mind the carney2 guy!

No way. He was heavily recruited by Yale and Princeton (and other Ivy schools), along with schools in the Midwest, the Rocky Mountains and California. Early in recruiting, schools learned Collin was mainly interested in schools with excellent academic reputations and good emphasis on football. The combination of those at LC along with a scholarship made Collin's choice of LC easy. LC is a perfect fit for Collin - we will watch him rise to the level of expectations placed by Coach Loose and by the professors at LC.

Hi COpard!  Sounds like a great kid who enjoyed a supportive family.  We certainly think he made a great choice. Maybe along with Collin's summer reading list Coach Loose could slip in a video of Colgate's read-option for early study. We need the help!  Smile Again, thanks for posting. Beat Lehigh!

Hey no films to recruits even though we are moving to the wing tee next year so it wouldn't matter. Wink

Not sure why any of these kids would have considered LC without a scholarship. Practically every kid had other scholarship opportunities. Why would they pay to go to LC?

Coach T said in his interviews that previously they had to find kids that met 3 criteria. They could play, make grades and afford LC. He said scholarships have eliminated one of those 3 criteria. Money is no longer an issue. To use his words, it opened up the recruitment of the middle class. While LC has strong academics, so do many other schools.

We've had kids in the past attend LC over scholarship FCS schools, but the aid had to work out.  Don't forget that LC and other PL schools often gave the equalivant of of 50-60 scholarships, and many players attended school for free or for a few k per year.  Some of our recruits may have very will still ended up at LC under the old need based aid system, but most would have not.

Article on OL signee, Dev Leach, who won the 2011 Trench Trophy as the best lineman in western NY:

Leach, who can squat 650 pounds and bench 350, anchored a line from his left guard spot that paved the way for gifted running back Okoya Anderson to gain 1,705 yards and score 33 touchdowns. Leach was at his best in short-yardage or goal-line situations. He was named the offensive line MVP of the Class AA state championship game.

Trench Trophy scout Dave Hajduk watched hours of film of Leach from four games and voted for him. He was one of 43 Trench Trophy scouts who saw at least three games.

"The biggest thing I liked about Leach was he was good at going after the linebackers and defensive backs," said Hajduk. "In high school you don't see a lot of that. He was very good at getting the right angle and taking them out. For a big guy like that, that was unusual.////

Apparently he intended to go to Yale.  Scholarships again?
