LFN is also a bit (ok more than a bit) patronizing, as if it is somehow a major coup for Lafayette to sign a quality recruiting class. We have 7 league titles, many of the best players ever to come through the league and have lead the league in attendance on several occasions.

Frank's game day decisions continue to drive me nuts at times, but the man can recruit when given an even playing field.

Right on, FT!

2014 (Class of 2018) PL Patsy Ratings headed into the final stretch (with LC and LU waiting in the wings):

Sending C2 my little vial of midnight oil.

Expect the Pards to be in the 'gate/Cross range. Personally, I think that no matter what the Points say, the recruiting classes stack up as follows:

1. Fordham - Their points come from a paltry 10 recruits. As usual, Moorhead has grabbed some very impressive transfers to push the entire group of newcomers to a high level. Four or five 5th year players returning. The Rams appear to be going for it all this year. Whither Moorhead after that?

2. Lafayette - Frank got most of what he needed with the possible exception of a run stuffing DL or two. If a freshman or three can skip orientation and contribute immediately, a good year could become much better.

3. Holy Cross - Gilmore needed a lot of everything. He seems to have gotten it. Don't know if they will be good enough to blow the roof off this year, but Gimore is beginning to surround Pujals with some players. At the very least you should circle October 25th on your calendars. With the Squawks being played at a "neutral" site, this is the best home game of the season.

4. Colgate - Good Patsy Points numbers, but I for one am not that impressed. Another year without big time help for a woeful defense.

5. Lehigh - No details yet; just a feeling.

6. Bucknell - Hopeless.

7. Georgetown - Beyond hopeless.

I've had a peek at Lehigh.  Prepare to be surprised - VERY surprised.

What are you, a bunch of 4 year olds at Christmas?  You're told that Santa is bringing a big surprise and your only response is "I want it now!  I want it now!"

bull shit I will never go to Lfn page again. there is no way the Lehigh class deserves that rating of 79..ok I get it this is supposed to be fun but Colgate Holy Cross and the Pards had a better class. ..The trigger and speed points are so subjective ok Rich and LET prepare to be crushed this season. Lehigh su cks

Rolling Eyes  Well certainly a well reasoned reaction. Speed in patsy only measures credible independent times not the actual success of a coach in recruiting speed. LC got a lot also just not many with the needed published times. LFN didnot count 3 other recruits, all with reported sub
4.6/40s because the  published times did not meet the criteria.
What patsys show this year is the parity in PL. To me scores within 5-10points are essentially even. Only time will tell which of us had the best class this year. Gotta remember carney's caveat that this is for fun Smile

Not so much. One thing the Patsies are not is subjective. You, me, the village idiot - anyone - if we take a copy of the rules and sit in front of a computer hour after hour, each of us will arrive at virtually the same numbers. I agree however that the Pards and 'saders probably have marginally better classes than the Squawks regardless of the Patsy numbers. Not so sure about 'gate.

Patsies are objective attempt to use limited resources and evaluate recruit quality, which is as subjective as it gets. Speed point calculation is pretty flimsy. Many of the times posted on the four recruiting sites used are provided by the kids themselves. A little deeper research can reveal true speed. Tribe CB Trey Reed had no time posted on recruiting sites in 2012, but ran a 6.44 55meter dash that winter. If you're not familiar with track times that is smoking fast. Giving points for just being listed on a recruiting site is useless as well. Many kids are on Rivals because they enter themselves.

Do love watching everyone grind over the Patsies though!

Tribe
You are correct about speed. One caveat, self posted times as on hydl and nca are not used. Combine, track or other independent source are only ones used. Smile Those are fairly reliable but certainly not perfect.

Oops. Lists on rivals,247 etc are only ratings available for the Patsy frolic. We all know how inaccurate they can be. LU has had ** s never see the field and unranked kids become AAs.
Kids cannot self list on rivals etc. They can on hudl, nca. That said Rivals and Scout list all that come to one if their events. HS coaches are known to bring entire squads. Smile

Patsys are a separate competition only tangentially related toactual football. The word serious s/n ever be used in the same sentence as Patsy Smile Smile.

Your point is well taken. The Patsies are for entertainment purposes only - with an added objective to incite arguments in the endless and dull off season. On the other hand,...

Shame on you, Rich. You have reverted to the perpetual (only) argument ever used against the Patsies, the micro argument, or what I call the Rackley argument, named after former Lehigh offensive lineman Will Rackley who garnered zero Patsy Points coming in the door, but went on to make All-American, and is currently playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Lots of those single occurrences out there. An occurrence of one does not make a truth out of all however.

On the other hand, I took years of Patsies at one time and organized them into four year segments, weighting the classes with X3 for seniors, X2 for juniors and X1 for sophomores. Freshmen got no consideration. It was amazing how well the Patsies predicted the Patriot League order of finish - top to bottom - for each year chosen.

No argument from me. My point merely as to the stress some put on stars. Overall class quality clearly has been a valid barometer to some extent in success a few years down the road but there are many other factors that must also be accounted for as we delve into actual results. Each yr's class has to be viewed in an artificial bubble where *s are much more important.

It appears that we have signed a 2nd QB for this class:

Thomas Martin QB/K 6-5 announced today he will play for LC.

Watch him kick a 50 yd FG at a showcase event: (1:50 on the tape)

I noticed the same thing for HC, so it must be the site.  HC had 19 players listed but now there are only 2 (who have both committed to BC).
