A couple of surprises there.  Andrew Chase (Summit H.S.) and Shane Sharp (Palos Verdes H.S.) both are listed on LaxPower as recruits but are not on the announced list.  Otherwise the LaxPower list was accurate.

Just let the FOGO be the real thing.  Beyond that, once again it looks like a class with good pedigree.  Hoping to see last years progress continue.

That would explain it. Look forward to seeing him next fall.

Good pedigrees we've had in the past. What makes this (very large) class different is that they're starters and prominent players from those pedigree programs - not bench players. Looking good but as you point out a lot is riding on Mr. Sullivan from Greenwich (and on Giovanni Girardi's return to health).

Thant's disappointing, pards4ever. He really appeared to have the resume. That puts all the pressure on freshman Michael Sullivan. Would Rogalski choose at first to start one of the existing FOGOs (McMahon, Broeckaert, Thomas) in order to mitigate that pressure? I dunno.

I guess I'm just hoping Sullivan is the real deal and that his wings can provide him adequate support. In a dream world Erik Cannon would be one of the FO wings, but . . .

i think the defense will be much improved this year...i really like Falcone... i thought he played extremely well the last half of the season...our defensive middies need to be a threat when they come down on a fast break...i loved Confort but he had maybe 2 career goals...having big Dmids like Macarthy ..dunlap gallagher and  was very smart of rogalski...im a big fan of having bigger dmidd

A DMid on a fast break also has to be conscious of who is in what position (no matter how "fast" the break) and what his objective is at this point in this particular game (shoot? feed? reset?). This comes only with experience and lots of practice. It also means the attacks have to be one step ahead and each knows exactly where the steamrolling DMid expects them to be. A DMid on a fast break should never be put in a position where he has to pause to survey the field - at that point it's way too late when you're playing DI lax. Again - practice and communication.

We have the speed and the talent, and we're building the size. When the light goes on and they become a team, it's going to hit like a tornado I think. We might have seen the very first gusts of that tornado at the end of last season.  I sure hope so.

I asked my son about the freshman class. 'Beasts' and 'really good' were the words he used to describe them.

THIS is what I want to hear! Very Happy

So, upperclassmen . . . are you going to take this lying down?  Let these new freshmen beasts walk all over you?  Or are you going to step up to the challenge and take that competition out to the field?

Sullivan is ranked #7 for incoming Freshman FOGOs in the country - link below.  No guarantees until he hits the big stage but strong showing for him coming in.

Recent ink on Lafayette's commitments for the 2018 HS class (second 2018 commitment):

"Steal for @LafayetteMLAX in McDonogh lefty attackman Jackson Cummings '18. Fab 40 All-Star at @NXT_Showcase, recently joined @CrabsLacrosse.  https://twitter.com/tyxanders"

Having a natural lefty is a plus.

But . . . any DI attack ought be as good left as he is right.  There should be no discernible difference in his skill at this point.  These kids should have been working on lefty-righty since the sixth grade, at least.

I'm not sure where he fits at McDonogh, but that is a very good HS program (regular season MIAA (Baltimore private school league) champions last year).  If he is above average there as a senior, this is a nice catch.

That said, it still bothers me that lacrosse programs are making offers to and getting verbal commitments from 10th graders (and sometimes 9th graders).

A ridiculous situation. Tracking LU verbals,I now keep 3 separat lists. Prblem is the coaches, alho most want reasonable restrictions but no agreement as to what their extent should be. Debate has been going on for years.

I believe the problem (at least in part) is that no coach wants to be the first to get off of the merry-go-round for fear of being left behind.

Yup.

Though none of those "verbals" are binding, it will be interesting to see what percentage of them stick by the time they're H.S. seniors and it's time to sign an LOI.

I agree that no coach wants to be the first to get off the merry-go-round. But Lafayette only just got on the merry-go-round. It probably wasn't even five years ago that Pard lax started recruiting in earnest anyone but seniors. Fifteen years ago we were still hoping (to a large extent) that maybe there were a couple kids in the incoming freshman class that might like to play lacrosse, or (at best) a few of them had put lacrosse as an "interest" or "activity" on their application.
