Ross played the entire second half and looked very good.  Needs to work on run blocking, though.  105 yards on 13 carries with 1 TD.  Led all rushers on either team.  Also 2 catches for 14 yards.

BTW, Brock Jensen from NDSU played QB for Ottawa.  Another familiar name.

CFL roster cut-down day is Sunday June 19.  Ross would seem to be a lock after last night's performance but I have no idea how they evaluate their RBs.

CFL teams get to carry only 46 on the regular season roster which probably means only two RBs. I have to wonder if Ross' lack of special teams tackling and blocking experience in college will be a liability.

The Tiger-Cats head coach is former Cornell HC Kent Austin.  The offensive coordinator and the RB coach have strictly CFL background.  The special teams coordinator played for Maine and coaches at Dartmouth and Penn.

It's very  encouraging that he out played former Giants RB D'arel Scott by such a wide margin.Scott has 2 year's NFL experience but really played poorly when given the chance.

He's on the practice squad:

Then it would appear that the Tiger-Cats are keeping three RBs on the regular season roster, none of whom are named Ross Scheuerman (C.J. Gable, Da'Rel Scott, Mercer Timmis).

That doesn't square with what I saw the other night, but obviously there are other factors.

One factor - J'arel Scott stinks.Obviously "office politics" at work.

The above says Ross will back up Gable. The roster indicates Ross is on the practice squad. So we will see. The league has odd rules about how many non-Canadians can play.  Hamilton has suffered a lot of RB injuries over the past couple years.
That looks like a reporter error. The depth chart says otherwise:

Thanks for those game notes, Bpard.

Also, maybe the reporter for the Hamilton Spectator saw the same performance as we did last week and simply assumed (justifiably) that Ross would be the principal backup RB.  Cool

Hmmm . . .

Here's the Tiger Cats' depth chart for Thursday's regular season opener against Toronto.  It lists Ross Scheuerman as the second RB and reports him to be on the active roster:

http://assets.ticats.ca.s3.amazon...-Chart-Roster-06-23-16-at-TOR.pdf

But the roster on the team website still lists Ross as a member of the practice squad:

http://ticats.ca/roster/

Fans here would be all over the LC sports info people for such an incongruity, would they not?  Rolling Eyes

Thursday's 7:30 Hamilton v Toronto game will be streamed life on TSN, the Canadian Sports Network, but you have to be a Canadian cable subscriber to log in.

http://www.tsn.ca/tv#/TSN1

Nevertheless, if there's going to be a live stream, *somebody* no doubt will host a stream of it *somewhere* on the internet.  It should not be too difficult to find.  Cool

EDIT: As suspected, it wasn't too hard to find.  PM me if you want a link.

Looking more carefully at that depth chart roster, if you scroll down to the second page, the column on the right shows that RB Anthony Woodson is on the "1 Game Injured List" and both RB Da'Rel Scott and RB Mercer Tinnis are on the "6 Game Injured List."

That appears to leave Ross and CJ Gable as the only healthy running backs for Hamilton to start the season.  (I see that Ross in not listed on the "Practice Roster" on the top right, either.)

I don't speak Canadian (remember North Dallas 40) but it sure looks like Ross will be on the playing squad.
The CFL has a salary cap of C$5.1 million with some QBs making as much as C$400,000. The average salary is around C$80,000 so quite a few make less. That average is probably less than an NFL practice squad guy makes.
The minimum is C$52,000 (I'm looking at multiple sources for this stuff) which is about US$40,000.

Ah, Canada.  For what it's worth . . . A Canadian will pay a total of aboot $8,000 in income taxes on a $50,000 income.  An American will pay about $11,500 in income taxes on $50,000 income.  But Canadians pay another 13% in VAT on everything they buy (except groceries and medicines).

I've lived in Canada and owned property there.  I even speak Québécois French (sort of).  All I can say is, it's really different.  You can do more with less but you expect less, I suppose.  Its kind of like a cross between Alabama and northern Michigan, but without all the culture and refinement.  There are only two seasons - Winter, and Fourth of July.  And don't get caught in the Canadian health care system unless you have a wad of American $100 bills to peel off as vigorish for McGill-trained doctors (if you can find them).  Been there, done that.  Canada is the only place in the world where people can be obsequiously polite and monumentally rude at the same time - and mean it earnestly.

And they truly, deeply hate Americans.  Heck, half of my extended family still lives there, and they'd agree with me.  They stay only because of our own became Governor General (or whatever they call it) way back when and they're afraid of offending someone.  Eh?

Looks like CFL has a deal with ESPN.  My Time Warner channel guide confirms the broadcast tomorrow on ESPNews 7:30.

Hamilton v. Toronto game thread here or in a separate post?

BTW, a full 10 loonies for a pint of Molson (or even Coors Light for that matter) at Tom Hortons Field. 14 loonies (or 7 toonies) for tallboy at Toronto's new BMO Field. By comparison it's $8.50 for the same at the Linc in Philly and $8.75 at Met Life for the Giants.

Sombody should complain.

Delayed, I'm watching my tape of the game. Ross wearing #36.  In on STs including end man on LOS on punt return.

Thanks to Ross for giving us football to watch in June!

No. 36 is in uniform. I haven't seen him in the game.
Toronto: a team once owned by Wayne Gretzky, the late John Candy and a white-collar criminal, Bruce McNall.
*** I just saw the above. Thanks I will review the DVR.
Yes a Ross sighting on the punt. Great stuff.
That and the level of play looks a lot better than in the preseason game.
