No, I don't watch any of the basketball feeds, and if this has been going on for a few weeks that is unfortunate.

All I am saying is that the ability for this board to 1. look for things to complain about and 2. work itself into a full lather in 60 seconds flat is funny to me.

The point is its been going on for months not weeks. It did occur at times at Metzgar as well this fall.

Have you watched a home MBB or WBB game lately? This is NOT a rare occurrence and this board has been filled with threads noting the difference between watching a home basketball game vs. a road one for several weeks now.

It's been going on since last year.  It happens during FH and lax games.

The technology to do this is off-the-rack these days. Anybody with a camera can do a live IP broadcast.  The only intangible is to have access to a server with bandwidth flexible enough to expand on demand - and we're not talking about more than a few thousand viewers.

Unless somebody at LC really is asleep at the switch, the only thing I can think of is that Lafayette's ISP (which I assume is RCN) doesn't have the most modern servers and can't give Lafayette the dedicated on-demand bandwidth it needs to sustain the broadcasts. If that's the case, then the only solution is to use C-band satellite, I suppose.

I'm incredulous to your reaction. Big build up on the website to one of the biggest sports days of the year. Many of us look forward to the day and to LC's coverage. Then, like so many other events, the broadcast was AGAIN a failure. Extremely frustrating! Wake up, 10! LC was a leader in this stuff, now other schools have followed suit w/out problems. Our kids and parents deserved better.

Main point though, we had turned the page as of 11pm last night. You resurrected it.

And to Fly, where do you think Lehigh would be without 1 family? Not sure I understand re-raising the admin support issue today? Let the study play out, we have 15 scholarships. Progress, why are you stirring the pot, today?

That happens when information is lacking. There aren't any stupid people on this board.

The college's support for athletics has never been stronger, and I say that as someone who attended my first Lafayette game in the 1960s.
The results are perplexing. Staggering even but there is hope.
Perhaps it's time for a Godfather-style meeting of the Five Families before we have to "go to the mattresses."
I've been as pessimistic as (almost) anyone but the last few years have brought progress though so far it's a war without victories and glory, only casualties.
That will -- it must -- change.

I looked forward to the signing day coverage for weeks. It was so frustrating I stopped trying. I'm planning try to watch the youtube breakdown videos tonight. Bandwidth problem solved externally but so disappointing.

Coach JG's top 2 on his "following" list: JJ Younger and Lavandis Douglas. He's looking out for them. Good news ahead, I trust.

I tried to watch the signing day stream live and had to give up. Then at home at night I tried again but even the archive was NG and unwatchable.  How could the stream be archived in unwatchable condition? That is mind blowing. My home computer and internet are state of the art for 2016 to provide maximum "reception" for sports and movies so I know it's not my equipment.Maybe something better will be avaialble this year but what I have was about the best you could get last year.

"Who would you list as the five families?"

I saw an earlier reference to Five Families and thought of the Gambino, Colombo, Bonanno, Genovese and Lucchese families.

Lafayette has many generous donors but when it comes to families, one always comes to mind first.

On the football field I think we are going to have quite a QB competition. The only guy on the fall roster to have thrown a collegiate pass will be Davis (one, at Yankee Stadium).

Would have been better off not broadcasting anything vs. that.

After years of doing it right and being really proud of the production that was unmitigated crap. An understatement to say not the way to welcome in a new coaching staff or new enrollees. If I were JC, Dennis, Mick et al, I'd would be both furious and embarrassed. Same goes for Bruce and Alison.

That deserves a huge apology to every kid, coach and fan who supports LC. And in world outside academia someone would be looking for a new gig by this afternoon.

And yeah, a ton of missing names vs. what we had expected.

No need to apologize to the kids there now. They understand the landscape. They see the total lack of commitment from the college. It's a shame really. Great school, good infrastructure, great alumni group both in financial support and attendance. It's been a long time since I have seen something so good yet so undervalued. I think the new coach will help but he can't do it by himself.

Some of you won't like this comment but I'm still not sure the college leadership is committed to Scholarship sports. Look at all the facilities. Alumni built those. Think where we would be in athletics without about five families.

fly: I completely agree with you.  It has to do with lack of understanding of athletics, overemphasis on safe spaces and politically correct BS, small college myopia, liberal arts fantasies and especially the unbelievable arrogance of many educators.  Too many Trustees simply don't care about athletics - as I have said many times.

Andy: I would never speak for fly but for me: I remain really p___ed off at the state of our athletic program.  And yes, I am very supportive of the competition study and the action taken with the football program.  My wife is frustrated with me bec. I get so angry watching some of the games.  But down deep she understands because she, too, has been watching this mess for a very long time.  She really does not like attending games, and seeing the teams lose all the time (who does??!!).  I know you are as frustrated as any of us Andy.  Sometimes, the anger and frustration just comes out!

I hear you ed and of course I've felt the pain. But for football this is a new era, I'm very optimistic. Didn't think a thread on signings was the proper place. But to each their own.

I believe these guys will win at least one PL title before they leave. Go get ' 'em guys! Can't wait for spring ball!

Opinions vary.
So do personal agendas.

My only interest is seeing this sports program cease being the joke of the league.

Others here have more personal issues at stake, and that is understandable.

Scholarships for sports were unimaginable in my day.

Now with scholarships, Lafayette needs coaches who know how to allocate them. The alumni and college have taken a stand, now it's time for coaches who can deliver competitive teams.

Leopard10, forgot to comment that I am very pleased with the latest moves by the administration in regard to the coaching situation. And I have said multiple times that I think Garrett is a wonderful hire. In fact I don't know that they could have made a better hire. And they did it quickly as well. I don't not know much about the assistants he has hired.

I have had the same concerns for two years. You played the game, you know. You get one shot at college ball. You just wish all channels would have been fully committed to winning. People here can say, well you got a good degree. That's true. But these guys are football players, not your average college student. Their college experience is more than just academics. When most of the players make great sacrifices and give 100% to give their all to the program, you wish the suits in the ivory tower would do the same. You know the sacrifices they make, not just the social life, the downtime, the trips but you ever sacrifice at some level with your grades.

Going forward I am personally happy for Lafayette and the kids left behind. I believe Garrett himself will make a difference and change some of the culture. There are parts of the culture that Garrett alone can change if they let him and support him. Hopefully he gets the support Frank was unable to muster( that part was not Frank's fault).

Many of the boys realize they leave with a good degree and are grateful for the opportunity as well as the friendships they made. At the same time, many just wished for more for the program. None of these guys committed to LC for the academics, though they are good. My son leaves with the engineering degree he dreamed of 4 years ago. Of the 8 kids that started in football and engineering, he will probably be the only one to make it in 4 years. And for that he is very grateful. I know many others feel the same way. I can't speak for everyone, only a few.

I could not copy your earlier post due to something not working on my iPad. I would have explained more but I was at lunch and short on time and. rushed it. Sorry about that. Wasn't meant to come across as upset. That message has been pretty consistent.
