Pards maintaining a lead, but not adding to it. I just hope nobody gets too comfortable.

12-6 the game seems under control. Seems like Fisher is staying with one goalie this time!

I wish I had video. My guess is Iona is playing very aggressively trying to keep pace with Pards' speed: Lafayette has eleven free position shots to just one for Iona. That's a huge stat disparity where you don't want to be on the wrong side.

Hat tricks now for Davey and Novick, in addition to Wilhelmsen. Pards up 14-6 about midway through the second.

I don't know the situation with Allie Abacherli, who had been the starter. If it's performance, then so be it. If it's injury, then we might see Abacherli return later in the season. I just don't know.

Kudos to the Gaels' freshman goalie, Samantha Tyo - it looks like she actually saved a Kirsten Wilhelmsen free position shot. That's no easy feat.

15-7 lead with 8 min to play should be enough, but I'd rather Alison Fisher not take her foot off the gas, just the same.

Gaels are collecting yellow cards as they try furiously to mount a comeback.

Looks like Fisher took her foot off the gas at about 5:00, which has led to a 4 goal flurry by the Gaels.

Congratulations to Lafayette lacrosse for its 16-11 win over the Iona Gaels.

Three games remain until PL play begins. I suspect Lafayette will be favored in two of them but the third - Villanova - might be more difficult (though the Wildcats are winless to date). But first things first: the Pards must turn right around and travel to Central Connecticut for a 1:00 PM start on Saturday. NEC Front Row will stream the game.

GO PARDS

Villanova appears to be a lot weaker than last year. Lost 10-6 to Bucknell at home and blown out by Cornell and Navy.  Reasonable chance for an LC win. As for Central CT, they lost by double digits to Iona.  Nuff said.

Taking *nothing* for granted, 137. Stats were mostly balanced except for Lafayette's huge edge in FPs. I have concerns about Iona's three minute, 4-goal run at the end of the game. Nova could ignite at any moment, and CConn certainly isn't going to roll over. But a win is a win and I'll take this one gladly.
