Here are a couple of links to some kids who have us in the mix. As various HS leagues name their All Star teams now is a good time to find such stories. Enjoy...

Expectation: Less than 20 recruits made up of No-needs and Big needs. Middle class recruits lost to Ivies and more generous HC, LU and 'gate financial aid "reads". Facilities lose out to parents' $$$ needs in this economy. Our coaches way out front on recruits with top 10 at Holy Cross game and 30 at Lehigh game but, $$$ limits will kill us this year. An even playing field of schlarships and we win big. Our financial aid limits will give us 5th best class. Fordham disregard for AI gives them a class no other school in PL can recruit.

The Ivy aid policy is a killer. Remember they can offer even more than the scholarship FCS or BCS schools can offer. That will take out even more potential recruits from our pool. So scholarships and the AI eliminate a good portion and Ivy aid the best "student athletes" Without scholarships the PL is left holding the bag.  Meanwhile our presidents twiddle  their fingers, and add more 200,000 dolllar deans to the mix and our administration is trying to reduce the student population, raise the faculty numbers, and raise tuition in an economy at best in stagnation and 200 mio gone from our endowment.
This doesn't sound like a management with their head in the real world.
Oh I forgot there's the that 400 mio dollar campaign  around the corner.

Listen guys...I don't know if it's the loss to Lehigh, the global economy or some combination thereof but I'm really getting tired of "the sky is falling" mentality. Maybe I am being a polyanna about this whole thing. Maybe the Patriot League world is about to fall off of it axis and we should all be screaming it from the rooftops. All I know is we have lost to Lehigh before and we've lived to win another game. As for the unique outside pressures that effect us...they effect everybody in the league. Perhaps this will translate into the Ivies widening the gap until we come to our senses and implement scholarships. Nonetheless, every team in the league is going to do their best to recruit the best players they are able and we'll all field a team next year.

I was hoping to get a post going on potential recruits. That is to say actual recruits who are thinking about coming to Lafayette. I'm not saying we shouldn't gnash our teeth and wring our hands about the state of the team, league, economy and world, but could we dedicate a seperate thread to it? Perhaps we could name it, "The World is Ending - Complain Here". I am sure the younger guys will be active participants.

I'm with Pard94, Man....You'd think we were Bucknell or something...Now we're not going to get recruits either?

Come on fellas. The way this board reads we ought to just give up!

Another Eachus??

RB Zach Barket, Schuylkill Haven  5-10 205--PA single season rushing record holder.

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/...d=124EAECC990E8918&p_docnum=1

Author(s):  Of The Patriot-News
Date: December 4, 2008

........."He thinks he's funny," Farr said of his mega-star tailback. "But mostly, he's an agitator."

Barket, possibly the most discussed scholastic football player in Pennsylvania this year, agrees.

"I get under Coach Farr's skin sometimes," said Barket, who'll need a U-Haul to cart off all of the state rushing records he's compiled in this peerless season.

"He says I talk too much," said Barket, who let out a small chuckle and added, "but on game day, he's my best friend."

Imagine that.

It wouldn't have anything to do with those state-record 65 touchdowns (nearly five per game), would it? Or those 398 points (also a state record)?

Or, the most amazing number of all: 4,050 yards rushing, the best single-season effort in Pennsylvania history.

Well, no. Because until last week no one had ever done it before in Pennsylvania. It is the fourth-best single-season ever, according to the National Federation of High Schools....

So, it's kudos all around for Barket, who is being recruited by Patriot League and Ivy League schools; Penn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Lehigh, Lafayette and Bucknell are on the current list.

"I'm looking at business or engineering right now," Barket said. "I'm not sure if I can do engineering and football at the same time, though. My brother [Jared] is in engineering [at Widener University], and I know how heavy his workload is." ///////

QB Tyler Dito, Northern Valley-Demarest (NJ)  6-1 185

Strong armed QB from the NBIL (Roeder, Costanzo, Lippert, Stripe, Bono) rumored to have already verballed LC.

They upset Mahwah this year, but I believe a .500 program last two years.

Actually he would be the third athlete from Demarest at Lafayette, I believe there are two on the women's soccer team. I looks like a little pipeline developing!!

Why isn't this discussion in the Football section?

More to the point, why does this Recruiting section still exist?  Mr. Administrator?

It's a tough call.

I see a kid who is considering Lafayette along with 8 other schools I think it belongs somewhere besides the main thread---but that's just me. I don't think it hurts anything. You found it...right!?

Hopefully I'll be upgrading around here pretty soon---that's the plan anyway.
