Here we go.  The preseason is over.  Time for Patriot League Game of the Year Part 2.  It's down to 3 games for trophies, playoffs, bragging rights, everything.  Losing to these clowns as we usually do would bring this dream season to a screeching and hideously unpalatable halt.  I was somewhat confident about this one 3 or 4 weeks ago.  That confidence has now eroded to reasonable hope.

The Pards appear to be on a mission.  There have been a few "distractions" such as the 1st half against Bucknell, but they appear able to retain their focus one game at a time.

The toothpaste and shaving cream crowd has now played 9 games and have not shaken my suspicion that they are overrated.

After going 3-0 against Curse teams, this version of the Pards seems able to baffle the gods.

Need to pay serious attention to Pat Simonds.  Lose track of him only 2 or 3 times and this thing is over.

The Raiders have their backs against the wall.  They still have that elusive "mathematical chance," but two League losses ends it.  A wounded tooth brush is a dangerous tooth brush.

It is a very difficult call, but how can one go against destiny?  I think that Lafayette wins by something less than 10.

The Princeton/Gate game films will be instructive.....That game gives credence to the overrated tag...

Need to pressure the QB....I recall Tigers had some success neutralizing Simonds somewhat by doing just that...

If we play 2 good halves...... something we have not done consistently.... we should win this one....

We are at home, senior day. This team just seems to get "it" done. Schmiddie's back, the D will continue to dominate, Air Curly continues, a 10 pt win.

GO PARDS!

No rain in Saturday's forecast - YET.  Will we actually have fannies in the seats for a change?  Probably not.  The students have zero interest and the typical alum is an olde farte who doesn't go out in the rain, won't drive at night and will not consider a football game where the temperature might dip below 70.  He stays home and verifies that his cell phone speed dial is properly set for 1-800- CASKETS.

Never underestimate the power of a Black Out Carney.

I watched 2 Colgate games this year so I feel I can have a decent opinion here.  First off Eachus is defintily not 100%.  He barely played against Lehigh and has been battling injuries all year.  His fill in McCord is a good back, but he isnt the game changer that Eachus is.  You know they will run that Zone read option about 60 times--we need to contol this play first and foremost.  That big reciever is a beast.  He is virtually Gate's whole passing game. He needs to be accounted for on every play.  The Gate defense is good and solid, but nothing special.  We have probababy seen better D's this year (Penn/Yale).

The bad news is that we never beat Colgate.  Biddle really has Franks number and he always seems to dial up the perfect game plan to beat us.  They also always make the right plays at the right time.

Good News.  We have a brand new offense this year so much of what Biddle know about the Pards and stopping us in moot.  Mickey Fein has been calling some great games and I think he will keep Gate D off balance.  I think we can score some points against this team.  On D I dont think the Gate offensive line is all that formidable.  They have 4 new starters and are quite small at center and guard.  They are athletic but I believe they will have a very difficult time with Poulson and Dell who are the best intertior D-Line combo in recent memory.  I think these guys can really disrupt the Gate running game by creating havoc in the middle of the smallish Gate line.  If those two guys step up we have a great chance to win.  Also the Colgate kicking game seems to be in shambles-- big plus for us in a close game as Davis Rodriguez has really been playing well of late.

Lets not forget last year.  The Leopards were up 10-0 in Hamilton and about to go up 17-0 when young Mr. Rudolph fumbled the ball at the one.  Gate scores and Curley gets hurt and our season goes down the drain. The players remember this bitter loss and will be jacked and ready to play.  I think we are better than last year, and I not so sure about Colgate.  If we play well we will beat this team.  Go Pards!

I did see the Princeton/Colgate game and I came away not all that impressed. I will say their big reciever is a talent and appears to be their go to guy. Key to the game...get them in third and long and it puts them in an uncomfortable place.
Lafayette 20 Colgate 14 in a nailbiter.

The polls are out and, much to 94's chagrin, the Leopards have crept into each one:

AGS 23

TSN  25

Coaches  24

Lafayette is ranked behind Holy Cross, Liberty and Colgate in every poll.  Lehigh finally got shut out in the TSN poll where some voters have had them on their ballots all year.
