2* Scout's rating at C position with offers from other PL. Would have to believe this O-lineman was one of our priority recruits. Welcome aboard, J.D!!

N. Penn's Dzurko picks Lafayette

North Penn offensive lineman J.D. Dzurko has orally committed to play for Lafayette.
Dzurko, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound senior, was an Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection. He will play in the Big 33 Football Classic in June.

After moving from center to guard, Dzurko did a stellar job of protecting North Penn quarterback Todd Smolinsky and opening holes for the Knights' ballcarriers in 2009.

Dzurko, a second-year starter, said he had scholarship offers from Lafayette, Colgate, and Lehigh, while Delaware, Old Dominion and Richmond also expressed interest.

Nice a Big 33 guy. Also picked us over Lehigh and Colgate-- very encouraging

If you read some of the earlier articles on Scout this kid seemed to have serious interest from the likes of Nova, Dleaware, Maine, Temple and Duke. Seems like when the dust settled it was going to be us or HC. Looks like a really nice pick up for Lafayette. Sure seems like we will be talking about our o-line for years to come.

Some loser Delaware fans are saying this kid will sign with Delaware.  They apparently will be making a last minute offer to this kid.

He gave us a verbal last week.  We shall see how this shakes out.

FT, isnt it an NCAA violation for a "booster" to say or post "hey, (athlete's name), accept the scholarship. Come with us." ?????

Besides being rude it is a NCAA violation for LOI kids, unfortunately PL is not an LOI conference. Any other school can swoop in at any time and take some of our recruits. Happens every year Sad

This kid already had a story in the paper saying he was going to Lafayette.  He can choose to do whatever he wants (legally), but making a commitment and changing his mind just a few days later just doesnt look good.  Maybe he will stick to his word, maybe he wont.

We will know for sure in a few hours.

Rich, I know they can switch after verballing, FCS or BCS, I was referring to the comments on the board. Cant solicit as a booster, correct?    This kid is carried on the Delaware site now as a Delaware verbal.

OK technically you are right that solicitation to change a verbal by a booster could be a violation but since we are not a LOI league, a violation of what?  as they could take him away anyway. Only real restriction is in PL and even there kid can change his mind. We lost a big kid OL to HC after he had signed with us when HC increased their $$.

You cant solicit to recruits.

If this kid does change his mind I would love to be a fly on the wall when this kid tells Coach T he isnt coming-- that would be an epic blowup  Razz
