We were discussing Rabb on this board last year. You'll recall the video, I'm sure:

Seriously?? How did this happen? Here is an article from an area newspaper last year. Anything else from the forum? This may be the every down bruiser back that we have not consistently had since Hurt.

Hudson Valley blog that follows Army Prep football stated he is not on the Army incoming freshmen roster for this year.  I guess that means he will be a freshman since he went to Army Prep.

....

Greg Rabb was on the recruiting list of several major college football programs.

Wisconsin, Northwestern, Boston College and Duke showed interest in Rabb, a fullback at University School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

One play changed Rabb's college destination.

Rabb went out for a screen pass and had his legs taken out by a defensive back. He suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. Rabb's senior season was over six games in.

And the big-time schools disappeared. Army, which contacted Rabb last spring, was one of the few options to stick around.

Capt. Clarence Holmes, Army's defensive tackles coach, called Rabb almost every week checking on his progress.

Holmes talked up West Point and the opportunities graduation from the academy presents after football.

Rabb was sold. Rabb's official visit last weekend reaffirmed his decision. Rabb gave his verbal commitment to Holmes at the gate of Newark's Liberty International Airport before heading home.

"It was a great atmosphere and it was just for me," said Rabb, who was limited to 19 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown last fall. "I don't have any aspirations of going to the NFL. With the economy the way it is now, I want to be comfortable. He was talking about life after football and what I would be doing, the kind of money I would be making and the kind of pull I would have in societies and communities."

Rabb, a bruising 220-pound runner, is one of more than 30 recruits to commit to Army on national signing day Wednesday. He will attend Army Prep in the fall.

Great news for a Friday in August before camp.

Sounds like the type of back who get some tough yards for us, and as others have noted he may be exactly what we need.

I'm confused.  (And this is news exactly how?)

Going to Army?  Going to Lafayette?  Must be Lafayette or we wouldn't be talking about it.

This year's freshman class?  Next year's freshman class?

He graduated from High School in 2011 and attended Army Prep School.

He left and signed with us and will be reporting to camp in a few days.  At least that is the way I understood it.

He reminds a little of Joe McCourt

Scheurman plus a guy who appears to be Frank's type of back.  I'm feeling better about RB.

More Art Dennis than McCourt - at least when Joe was a frosh/soph, as I recall he bulked up some in last two years - but potentially a very nice get.  Hope we look to run him at tailback and not bury him behind two good full/h backs.

No matter what it improves the depth at running back.

Ideally it would be great if we can have a 1,000 yard rusher and 500-600 yard rusher.  With a passing attack like Shoop's, and some strong prospects for next year, the offense will be very strong.... if the OL can develop.

So this 6'0' 220 lb. Rabb kid is a human bowling ball who can run block for The Scheuermanator, pass block for Shoop, plow through the line for a first or a TD and catch passes from the backfield? And he's now a Pard and he'll be available for W&M?

What did we do to deserve this? Not that I'm complaining, of course . . . .

Well, welcome to Pardsville, Greg Rabb. We're all very glad you're here. Please learn quickly to hate Lehigh. You're going to get to play in the 150th after all. May you channel the legacy of Jonathan Hurt therein.

Still confused - and I doubt if anyone has answers:

I could not find a 40 speed, so the question remains as to whether he is slated for feature back or upback or....

The recruitment video showed some plays for him at DE.

Is he what we hope or just another good blocking back who gets an occasional carry in a Tavani offense? Did Frank give any hints as to how he will be used?

Whatever it is that Rabb excels at, will he have the opportunity to do it on the Pleasant Plains of Pardsville as a freshman?

I've seen 4.54 40 either rivals.com or beginning of the video.  Can't recall the name of WR we had from Army/MAPS several years ago, played opposite Weirach????   My understanding is Rabb will be available this year.  Not rostered yet.

Raab could be (probably is) getting aid, but he can't be a "scholarship" guy if he's playing this year.  And as I understand it, none of the guys on the roster this year - and that would include Rabb - can be converted to scholarships after this year.  Everyone now on the roster will continue with the previous need-based grant system.

Is this how the rest of you understand it as well?

Yes, Burkes, thanks. Both he and Anthony Jones were late signees after a year at MAPS and they were rostered for the immediate season, Rabb in similar situation.

So, coach had final 2 prospect camps over the weekend, correct?  Looking forward to seeing who's offered.

Anyone attending practice, that will be Rabb wearing #41,  DeOliver Davis, formerly #41, out for the season.
