the team has totally given up....after the game i spoke to some of the kids...they don't respect the coaches which is a major problem...Ski needs to start cutting players who don't want to be on this team !!

Lafayette College seems to go out of its way to decline posting information regarding Lacrosse historical records, but I found some from the PL website.

This program has had one winning season in 25 years.  We have made exactly one appearance in the PL tournament over that whole time, and lost.  Our hall of fame prior coach had a win percentage starting with a "3" (I'm guessing since every note about him issued by the college declines to provide his record).

This program has been poor for longer than anyone who is currently playing has been alive.  Ski is probably a decent coach, but not dynamic enough to turn this disaster around.  Then again he was probably the best we could do given Bruce and the college's support of the program.

That would mean we've had one (1) winning season in men's lacrosse in at least half a century (50 years). We have to be honest with ourselves. The coach in his third season isn't to blame. Unless the administration provides both positive and negative incentives this lunacy will continue.

Missing #2, #3 and #4 goal scorers from last year due to injury or quitting. Face off and D are solid but can't win scoring 6 goals a game.

I tried to download old media guides but they were unavailable.  I spent 15 minutes this morning trying to find Bill Lawson's career record, but it was never mentioned in numerous articles.  Some here are asking Ski to turn around decades of losing with no increase in support. Ski seems like a decent guy, but perhaps not a program changing guy (few are).  As I've said before I can't really evaluate how good the guy is with X's and O's and player development as I don't have a deep understanding of the game, but we can't really pin this on Ski.  The AD has no plan to improve Lax.  Ski seems to be doing what he can.

As a parent you should not be talking to the players about their feelings toward the coach. Maybe the players we recruited aren't that good, maybe its their fault we aren't winning. If you have a gripe with the coach, talk to him man to man, don't hide behind someone's kid.

Nobody's denying your right of freedom of association - but when you're saying something as strong as the kids don't respect the coaches, the least you could do is stand up and be counted.

Pretty much all of us hide behind screen names and that's fine. (Just so we get this aspect out of the way my name is Aaron Snyder - class of '94).  We've seen parents come and go over the years (judging by when you started posting we'll be saying good bye to you in about 14 months) - and we take their rants with a grain of salt. I'm one of "those" parents when it comes to my kid. Remember though - potential recruits read this forum.

I'm not asking anyone to be pollyanna - there's no putting lipstick on the pig that has been the athletic department this year - I do think people should be careful. Questioning a coaches schemes, strategy, practice methods is one thing - you're coming very close to a character issue.

And those of us with a perspective that is larger than the four years our son plays will tell you the unarguable fact: this program has been an afterthought for decades. Many of us assumed it was coach Lawson, then we  were surprised when Mangan made little impact, and now we're reluctant to lay the blame at the feet of the current coach. IMHO he needs one more full recruiting cycle (ie next years team) before we can really begin to formulate.

The comment you made that you heard he's going to be let go if he doesn't win a certain amount of games is laughable.

Perspective from a very old fart Smile
5 years of recruiting is the usual timeline for substantial improvement in lax and football. Anything before that is a bonus and a good bit of luck. Rogalski is a solid coach. His recruit classes have improved the talent level measurably. But, all of your best players are underclassmen. Time. The real hurdle this year and next is teaching the players how to win.

An old-school second-grade retort for the ages. Did you have a bunch of people shouting "OOOOOOHHHHHHH BURN!!" when you wrote that?
