Hurricanes linemen choose Lafayette
Published: Saturday, December 20, 2008 4:13 AM EST
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Blocking for a 4,000-yard rusher is sure to draw attention from colleges.
Lafayette College drew the same attention from Schuylkill Haven’s Mike Murphy and Tyler Swoyer.
Murphy (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) and Swoyer (6-2, 285) have given verbal commitments to matriculate to the Patriot League school to play for coach Frank Tavani.
Murphy and Swoyer played next to each other on the Hurricanes’ offensive line at guard and tackle, helping pave the way for running back Zach Barket to rush for a state single-season record 4,195 yards and 66 touchdowns.
The duo also played defense for Schuylkill Haven, with Swoyer finishing the season with 75 tackles at defensive tackle and Murphy compiling 72 tackles at defensive end as the Hurricanes won the District 11 Class A championship and advanced to the PIAA semifinals.//////

No word on their teammate, RB Zach Barkett. |

Love the fact that they played next to each other. If they manage to progress similarly on the next level it stands to reason the o-line at Lafayette in the near future will be a pretty cohesive unit pretty quickly. Great size for HS seniors...add 15-20 lbs of muscle to each of them before it's all said and done.. The bohemoths continue to stampede towards Easton! _________________ Pard94 |

Nice-- two huge meatheads from the coal region. Somewhere Scott Heiser is smiling. Now we just need to get the RB they blocked for. Why wouldnt the record setting RB follow his big 0-linemen? |
