So, other than being mentioned as a past champion in the first paragraph, you wouldn't know we were in this league.

Lafayette has pursued irrelevance doggedly and embraced losers with zeal.
This is the payoff.

I was on Inis Moor, an Aran Island, today and met an old-timer Holy Cross fan from Wooster wearing a Patriots cap.
This fellow, 85 or so, recalled their title team. As for Lafayette, he politely inquired, more or less ... What happened?

Even in this obscure corner of western Ireland: it's inescapable.

This proves that the Patriot League is indeed known in obscure corners of the world - there are not many more obscure places in the world that Aran Island.  It would be even more obscure if that is possible if one of the great silent movie documentaries called "Man of Aran" (I believe that is the title) was not made there.  The island looked bleak then - 100 years ago.  Maybe the island is a metaphor for the bleakness of the LC Athletic program.

Good job by bethpard.

I love this board, but if you're posting from the Aran Islands, somebody really needs to teach you how to vacation!  Cool

Excellent point!
I actually posted on the way back to Galway. It just struck me as odd that after striking up a conversation with an older fellow on InishMoor, we'd be discussing the state of the PL at a place called Seven Churches (there are only two churches but that's the place) off the coast of Ireland. Perhaps if I went to Antarctica a Red Raider fan would appear.
The one fort, Doon Aonghasa, is among the most beautiful spots on earth when the weather cooperates, as it did Sunday. Back in the USA now and looking for some prognostications that actually mention Lafayette.

BTW a guide mentioned that Man of Aran movie. I'd never heard of it, I think he said it's from 1932. A more recent film, Leap Year, was also filmed there.
The islands rank up there with Mt. St. Michel as peculiar corners of Western Europe, though MSM draws a lot more tourists.

Cong, where we spent the first four days (my wife is a fan of The Quiet Man) is as restful and pleasant as a village can be.
I'm digressing! Go Pards!

Tied for last with Georgetown in the league poll.
Lehigh is No. 1.

http://patriotleague.org/news/201...to-repeat-as-champions.aspx?path=

A tie would for sixth is not likely, mathematically, assuming somebody actually wins the Lafayette/Georgetown game.

Not as unlikely as you might think. A tie for last has happened 11 times before in the PL. Would've happened more if Georgetown hadnt been so bad for a number of years.

A look back, not a preview, on a stunning FCS upset and there's even a Lafayette angle. App St beats Michigan:

A look at Sacred Heart, picked fourth in the NEC by the Sports Network

OUTLOOK: The Pioneers were rolling along at 6-1 until late
October, when they proceeded to lose their final four games -
all in the NEC. This year, they have one of the conference's
more experienced lineups and Matt Gardner has returned to the
program as the offensive coordinator. His unit will have to get
in sync quickly following the graduation of Noel under center,
but the Pioneers will look to continue running the ball after
they led the conference in rushing yards per game (207) with
Chavious and Imeokparia. On defense, LBs Barry and Parvelus (100
tackles) lead the way. As the Pioneers seek a fifth straight
winning season, they will be a senior-led team.

Hero Sports:

Bryant and the fans get some favorable notice.

The 2017 schedule is difficult. There isn't one sure win -- a "Mercyhurst" - on the list.
This year's team could win two games and still be a lot better than last year's.

This is an interesting look at Monmouth, including speculation of a move to the CAA. It also shows a program that has been dedicated to improvement.

Plus a little speculation on FBS matchups:
