IMO The Pitt's of the world are going to expect more from Monty than he is willing to give or capable of giving.

This appears to be accurate but pretty shocking: LSU wants Alston?

http://lsu.247sports.com/Board/59...-transfer-Brandon-Alston-52628200

Dunkum to Creighton. Boykins may go to Pitt. Now Alston to the SEC?

This is weird.

To give you a further example, Mt. St. Mary's - which had a good year this year and was primed to be really good the next two years - had three starters transfer out, a soph and two frosh.    One ended up at Texas, one already has an offer from Penn State, and the third signed with UNCW - which won 29 games this year and ran away with the CAA title.

I guess teams like players who have demonstrated they can play at the D1 level and who have already gone through the transition period from HS to college, athletically, socially, and academically.   Also it is hard for a player to transfer twice - so if you take a transfer, you have a good chance to hang onto them.   That is unless they turn out to not be very good and then you yank their scholarship.

Boykins will play at Pitt next year.
The Patriot League is a great league (to transfer from).

It is the best basketball situation to be in. Will keep an eye out for him.
Best of luck Monty.

Yes, it is a good situation for him.   Closer to home, playing for an ACC school that desperately needs players for a year, and presumably a free Masters Degree.   I believe Pitt lost 5 players to transfer and had two decommitments, so there will be lots of minutes, albeit for a really bad team.

I just hope he didn't believe Stallings' recruiting spin:   "He could help me develop into one of the premier shooters in the ACC next year"   . . .   If he really believes that, then I have a couple of bridges I'd love to sell him.

Alston will visit UMass and Georgia Tech, according to ESPN. It's becoming quite a grand tour.

Lehigh's Matt Holba has transferred to IPFW, back home for him. LU may be a scholarship athlete or two short this year.

LU graduated Kempton, Price, and Devon Carter (who rarely played), plus the they lost the two transfers Holba and Alston.    But they have added three incoming freshmen plus juco transfer Ed Porter, who will have sophomore eligibility.   Additionally they add transfer Lance Tejada, who sat out last year.   Also if they are lucky, two big men (Sedore and Lieb) who missed last year due to injuries may be healthy enough to play this year.   So they should have at leat as many available players as last year and perhaps more.  Looks like 11 scholarship players plus a couple of preferred walk-ons.   But replacing Kempton, Price, and Alston with newcomers will be a net loss in terms of performance.

Over the past couple of years, LU has lost Holba, Alston, Tyler Jenkins, Shane Whitfield, and Miles Simelton to transfer.   Also at least three preferred walk-ons have transferred out.

The Milwaukee Bucks invited Kempton to play for their summer-league team.

The Buck will definitely stop there. He is no NBA player.

I would guess that he found out that his dream of Creighton giving him a scholarship next year was nothing more than a bad dream.   He is probably the only one who thought that was going to happen.
