Obviously, we're not looking for (or haven't been able to sign) a true post player!  I can't stand it!  Yes, we need shooters, but we also need rebounders and someone to dish the ball to open shooters.  If we're not going to develope a post and we're not recruiting or signing a post player, we seem doomed to this offense!

And I hear that Alex injured a knee in Saturday's game and might have surgery?????

[quote="Andy"][quote="The Maroon"] Going with Curious George's theme...Have I mentioned how ticked off I am with our backcourt situation? Next season we're looking at starting Downey and Jackson, with Jenkins and Leone also returnees. Hell...these girls could be superb for all I've seen of them--but that's the problem. X has indicated he believes that this years recruits will be guards, but I have to believe they'll need time to develop.

Our two known commits:

Alicia Manning 5-8 2 guard or swing (not the point) former teammate of Downey at Cardinal O'Hara, the number one ranked team in the country.

scout.inc lists her at 5-10 grades her a score of 80 and ranks her the #40 guard in the nation.

O'Hara sharpshooter Alicia Manning commits to Lafayette (Sep18)
Alicia Manning, a 5-foot-10 guard from Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, Pa., vebally committed to Lafayette College, according to her club team director LInda Genther. Manning averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds for a 25-2 team that won the Catholic League Championship last season. She was selected to the All-Catholic Second Team. ////////

Samantha Jordan  5-11 guard/forward  from Stonewall Jackson HS, DC area.

Lafayette had been following Jordan since last summer when the coaching staff saw her play in AAU competitions, Stonewall Jackson head girls basketball coach Nsonji White said.
Jordan also became familiar with the program through a friend of her father’s whose daughter was a freshman on the team......

A versatile player, Jordan averaged 11.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 4.2 steals per game last season in helping the Raiders go 25-1.

“Coach Smith said there wasn’t an athlete like Samantha in the Patriot League,” White said. “She gets to the basket and is long and lanky.”////

We are waiting on a third girl.  I assume that is the holdup on the announcements.

I get a lot more into basketball recruiting news because it's a LOT easier to project college level talent in basketball than in football. A LOT easier.

I'm pretty jazzed about Jordan--The DC area has been really good to us recently---with Wright and Garner. She doesn't have gaudy scoring because the team could win without her dropping 20--but 9 boards/game in a 32 minute game is pretty impressive, as is the steals number.  and the high schools Stonewall Jackson plays against are as big as Patriot league schools.

Manning...Like the write-up, a "sharp shooter". Can't get upset about that.

So far looks like a good class.

Don't know how we're gonna get the ball up the court though.
