Tough man to man D and the Lauren Jackson show propel Pards to finals. Tammy for COY, who knew? Last week it was CYO. Lauren with around 17 pts. She had 42 all year. Two big threes from Spice down the stretch to hold them off. Navy was picked for 7th, much improved program.
Way to go, Pards!
Damn, had to work....tell us about it, X. |

I was excited from the start. Seven cheerleaders were able to drag themselves to the game by the 3:30 start.
For the second straight game, and second straight win, we were able to establish the inside game early with Virgin down low and Smith in the paint. We continued to use the inside-out approach until the closing minutes. But the story of the game was Jackson. She made her first shot, an ugly bank shot from out front for three, airballed her next and was pulled from the game. After Leone airballed a three, Jackson returned and played most, if not all, of the rest of the game. She hit a few more threes and had a couple of nice drives to the hoop. I believe she ended with 17. Spicer after her usual 2 fouls go to the bench first half finished strong with a few threes and also had 17. I think Virgin had 13, most of them coming at or near the rim.
Navy got off to a fast start and was still ahead by a few midway through the second half. I don't believe we ever fell behind once we took the lead.
Our foul shooting once again was not very good althugh we got the ball in Spicers hands when we had to. We did a good job on Consedine, only one three, I think and we kept her away from the basket on her postups.
I left the game wondering how many more wins we would have had if we hadn't spent so many games weaving outside the arc looking for backdoor cuts and launching threes instead of attacking the rim as we've done the last two games. Also, how many points would Jackson have scored if she would have been given more playing time. Of course, we'll never know and now its on to Lehigh. They are a very good team: athletic, deep, strong inside, solid on defense and have many offensive weapons. We will need our best game of the year and then some to give ourselves a chance to win. |

Saw LU a few times in person this year. They are good, they are deep, they are undefeated at home, and it's going to take a monumental effort to pull this off. But, that makes it even more sweeter when it happens!
Go Pards! |
