Field Hockey opens this week end with a trip to Virginia to play Longwood and Radford. Longwood would be the better of the two teams. This is the third year of scholarships and Andrews second scholarship class (although this incoming freshman class is the first he was able to recruit through the whole scholarship cycle.)
He has 8 returning seniors who will anchor a team that went 12-6 through the regular season. Kelsey Anderson is the goalie and was ranked 14th in the nation in goals against last year. Megan Chichi returns as does soph Carolyn Cabrey.
The freshman class is very talented with Deanna DiCroce and Emily Valeo
as probable starters (Emily was on the US National under 21 indoor that went to Argentina). Kelsey played this summer in England and senior Amanda Saber played in the Macabee games in Israel. The squad is 20 women so practices are inclusive and morale is high. Early scrimmage saw a 2-0 win ag Towson and a 4-0 win ag St Joes.
This team may be our most successful team this fall if everyone stays healthy and it jells as expected. Griffith has added University of Maryland standout Emily Trycinski to the coaching staff along with Jennifer Stone Lafayette star from the class of 03. |

I notice Rob Curley's sister is no longer on the roster. Did she graduate? |
