I know this is WAAAY premature but...it would appear that good old John Troxell has turned around Div III Franklin & Marshall. They are 6-1 and the only loss was by 2 points 45-43 to Dickinson. He's a candidate for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year (For what that's worth).
Troxell is one of those coaches that just win. Let's review shall we...his first coaching job was as the the Offensive Coordinator for the undefeated Delta Gamma Dream Machine ( a juggernaut of a flag football team whose head coach was your's truly). He then went to Columbia where he was there for a few years as the Lions started their turnaround. He went on to Muhlenburg where he coached under Donnelly and helped turn that program into a force. Then under Tavani at Lafayette where he played a major part in our turnaround from The Dark Years. Now he has taken a crap F*M program and turned them around. They just beat Muhlenburg.
To sum up Trox is a local kid (Phillipsburgh) who played at Lafayette, coached at Lafayette and has remained very much in touch with the exiting athletic staff. He played at Lafayette when Bruce was an Assistant AD. All he has done in his coaching career is win. Is there any question that the Lafayette HC job is his the minute Tavani decides to step down? Would they even interview other candidates? The only question is does he get snapped up before then. I think it is safe to say he would never coach at Lehigh. Might he take an open Bucknell job though? That's a position that would allow him to stay relatively local while moving up the ladder from DIII. How hard would it be to go from one PL job to another if that's something he decided to do? I would think the Lafayette job would be somewhat of a dream job for him. It would certainly be my dream job for him becuase I'm fairly certain I could get Lafayette Lehigh tickets for free for the rest of my life. _________________ Pard94 |

I would assume Frank has his job until he decides to hang up his whistle.
That would leave guys like Lose in line. but I think that is year's away. There are a number of alums who have gotten the nod as coaches at Lafayette. I can think of three on the women's side so I don't think Bruce would resist that and in fact might welcome it. |

Likely all a function of timing - Troxell may well have moved past the PL by the time Frank hangs em up, and if he has done so all the best to him. If the sun, moon and stars line up correctly for John to return to College Hill I cant imagine we wouldnt love to have him for a while.
As for Loose hanging around that long (until Frank's retired), would like to see it, but would think that another quality year of DC is going to bring offers that eventually he is going to have to listen to ala Heff. |

I don't think you can compare Loose and Heffner. As you recall, Hef accepted then turned down previous offers because his wife didn't want to move because their daughter was in her final year or two of high school. Once they became empty-nesters,the situation changed.
Loose has a young family, seems very confortable with his situstion and will probably stay as long as Tavani is coach. Not every coach wants to be a head coach. |

Coach Loose interviewed for the CCSU job last year.
I hope he's here when Frank leaves and is considered for the job. |

I heard Loose was offered the CCSU job. He appaerntly declined mostly due to family concerns and being comfortable in his current role. Loose is a great coach, we are lucky that he is still around. |

I hope that Loose stays around for as long as possible. He is a great coach and great person all around.
As for Trox, he recruited me to play at Laf and is also a great coach. I am really happy to hear that his team is doing well. I think that Trox would be a great replacement for Frank and would probably keep Loose in the mix if he wanted to stay.
Any word on how Hach is doing at Towson? |

Mark my words...Trox will be the HC at Lafayette some day. I don't know how it will time up with Tavani and Loose et.al. but he will be the HC someday...and the Laf Lehigh tickets will flow like wine!!! _________________ Pard94 |
