In past years the JV games have been controlled scrimmages with the exception of the MAPS game. I read earlier that the LC-LU game was a passing drill only event because of the lack of lineman. Do you know if this years MAPS game will be real game conditions (including OT like a few years ago)? |

Not sure. On their website (http://www.usma.edu/usmaps/pages/athletics/football/football_schedule.htm) it's listed as a game, like their 7 or 8 other games. So, I assume it's a game. |

The Leopards won 34-7. This was a rare game where a team got 7 points without a TD. Army kicked 1 FG, we had a bad snap on a punt attempt and the kicker pcked up the lose ball in the end zone and threw it out of the end zone for a safey and we threw an attempted pass from the end zone out of the end zone for a safety.
By my count, we only suited up 30 players including the kicker Swerdlow and backup QB ONeil (who didn't play). The o-line was rotating and used Eck, Wotring, Krieger, Murphy, Crooks, Welch, and Butt. Elder was the RB. Young, Midilla, Moses, and Hall were the primary receivers. On D, it was Ricks, Forbragd, Nardone, Scott, Bross, Protin, Murray, Lyster and unknown #43.
The story of the game was Shoop who was on target with most of his passes. I recall him making only 3 bad passes all day. We never got a running game going and the few times Elder got into the secondary, he tried to run away from tacklers instead of picking up an extra yard by putting his head down. He also scrambled for good yardage numerous times as the Oline had trouble picking up the blitz. Shoop passed for at least 4 TDs an I dont remember how we scored the other TD.
Amry mostly ran the ball wide and threw only a few passes. The D was good in the first half but not as good in the second half. Army lost 8 fumbles, including 1 from inside the five, 1 on the one, and 1 into the end zone.
QB Shoop and TE Midulla were the best players today. |

Wow - thanks for the great summary. My sense is that Shoop is the real deal. It will be fun to watch him develop. |
